Canned Heat

Definition: When pre-recorded crowd noise (either cheering or booing) is piped through an arenas sound system to give the illusion that the crowd is responsive than they really are. This is done for the benefit of the TV audience.
Examples:
WCW television tapings were notorious for using canned heat.
