Abyss w/James Mitchell vs AJ Styles – The show starts off with an incredible match up and makes me feel better about the show starting 10 minutes late. This is a classic speed vs power battle. On two occasions, Abyss tries to apply the Black Hole Slam but each time AJ is able to escape with his momentum. AJ tries the Styles Clash but is not strong enough to do the move to Abyss. AJ hits the Pele kick and goes to the top rope. While on the ropes, Mitchell trips him with the cane causing AJ to crotch himself. Abyss brings out the bag of thumb tacks when Christian Cage enters the arena and storms the ring and hits Abyss with a tire iron. Christian Cage then chases Abyss out of the arena. Christian Cage then grabs the mic and accepts the challenge of Abyss and will meet him at Lockdown. Winner: Abyss by DQ
- Jeremy Borash is interviewing Team 3D in the back. He announced that Team 3D will battle Team Canada at Lockdown in an anthem match.
Arm Wrestling Contest: Bob Armstrong w/James Gang vs Konan w/LAX – Bullet Bob is the 66 year old father of BG James. Referee Rudy Charles kicks everyone out of the ringside area. Konan pulls away twice from the grip twice. When they finally start, Konan tries to pull away but can’t. He is about to lose when Hernandez makes his return to TNA and hits Bullet Bob with the slapjack. Winner: Bob Armstrong by DQ
- Larry Zbysko is in the back talking about Lockdown, Thursday night. Slick Johnson comes in and says he wants to ref the Daniels-Joe match but Larry says no. Slick then says that he wonders what the new guy is going to think about that. Larry is confused about the new guy.
Diamonds in the Rough vs Shark Boy & Norman Smiley – Simon Diamond is at ringside discussing the Sports Illustrated appearance. This was recorded before Ozzie Guillen showed up on RAW last week. Before this match starts Jeff Jarrett’s army comes out and beats up Shark Boy and Norman Smiley. The Diamonds ran to the back before Jarrett’s team made it to the ring. Jarrett demands that Scott Steiner be given a TNA contract. Winner: Match Never Happened
- Spike TV has shown commercials for the new Poison greatest hits album several times. They are reminding me that tomorrow I will have to do a recap for the Surreal Life with their guitarist. That episode will feature part 2 of the newscast episode. If you’re wondering what this has to do with wrestling, Maven is on the show this season.
- A commercial for the Best of the Bloodiest Brawl DVD is shown. That DVD is number 3 on the Billboard Sports DVD Charts
Winner gets final spot on Team USA: Alex Shelley vs Roderick Strong vs Chase Stevens - Chase’s partner Andy Douglas was injured by Scott Steiner last week. In the past, Shelley and Strong have been tag team partners. However, this match is every man for himself. The entire match, except the last few seconds features Chase Stevens fight off a constant double team. When Strong has Stevens trapped in a Boston Crab, his ex-partner sneak attacks him and hits the sliced bread #2 to get the win and final spot on Team USA. Winner: Alex Shelley
- Sting enters the ring and says that he returned to the ring because he loves wrestling and the wrestling fans. Sting then challenges Jeff Jarrett for a match on Thursday night. Jarrett’s army comes to ringside and surrounds the ring. Before they can do anything, all the good guys that want to be on Sting’s team chase Jarrett’s army away.
