Intro
Armageddon was first held in 1999 as a cool new name for a PPV at the end of the 20th century. Traditionally, the December PPV for the WWE was part of the In Your House Series. Those events were shorter and cheaper than the normal 3-hour PPV events.

History
The name was not used in 2001 due to the events of 9/11. That year, the December PPV vent was known as Vengeance. In 2003, the PPV was a RAW brand only PPV. In 2004, it was transferred into a SmackDown brand PPV. In 2007, due to the end of the brand-split on PPV, the event included the entire WWE roster.

The 2008 event turned out to be the final event using this name. In 2009, the company began rebranding some of their PPV events. This show was replaced by TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs.
