WrestleMania 23 DVD Review

This WrestleMania was able to set itself apart from the multiple other PPV events every year by having a combination of great matches, a stadium setting, and a WrestleMania moment that will be talked about for years. If you are a fan of wrestling history and like to hear old-time stories, I highly recommend the 3-disc edition which includes the entire 2007 Hall of Fame ceremony. If you only care about current action, then I recommend you get the 2-disc edition.

WrestleMania 23 was held in Ford Field. I love the atmosphere when events are held in such giant venues. The adrenaline the wrestlers get from performing in front of such a large crowd allows them to up the level of their game. The two world title matches and the Money in the Bank ladder match are worth the price of the DVD alone. When you add in the infamous Battle of the Billionaires, this DVD set comes across as a bargain.

In addition to the two matches mentioned elsewhere, the extras on this DVD include the WrestleMania 23 Press Conference, Steve Austin being introduced as the referee on RAW (I loved the part of that promo with Mick Foley), and Batista asking for his rematch which led to King Booker's injury. The only extra I would have like added would be the Austin interview where he mocks both Trump and McMahon to their faces.

The third disc, available only with the ultimate edition, contains the entire Hall of Fame Ceremony. For the past few years, this has been one of my favorite discs to watch. However, I enjoyed it more the first time it was done and released as a 2-disc set that included matches of the Hall of Famers. Call me greedy, but even with 9-hours of footage on this DVD, I would still have liked to see a Curt Hennig or Sheik match added to this DVD set.
