The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a way to kill an hour-and-a-half with some mindless entertainment, this isn't a bad way to spend that time. The best comparison to this would be a Rambo movie but instead of working solo, Mr. Kennedy has a partner to help him take out an elite fighting unit. From a film-making perspective, this is the best WWE film made so far, but I have to admit that I enjoyed The Condemned more. Although that might possibly be due to seeing that movie in the theaters, an experience I enjoy better than watching a DVD.

Guide Review - Review of Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia

This is the fourth movie by WWE Films and the first released directly to DVD. One of the biggest gripes I have had with the prior WWE films was the directing. That problem was solved in this movie as it was directed by Tim Matheson, better known to us all as Otter from Animal House. Unlike other WWE Films, the explosions make sense when they happen, the fight scenes show a conclusive ending, and there is no moral proselytizing tossed in randomly at the end of the movie.

As far as the acting goes, this is the first time I have seen a WWE Film and didn't think about the actor on the screen being a wrestler. While all of the publicity of this movie makes it seem that Mr. Kennedy is the star, the truth of the matter is that at-best he is a co-star. The real star of this movie is Joe Manganiello, better known as Flash Thompson in Spider-Man. Mr. Kennedy is rarely in a scene by himself and his character is the sub-ordinate of Manganiello's.

If you haven't seen the first two movie in the Behind Enemy Lines franchise, don't worry. Nothing that happened in those movies is relevant to the action in this movie.
