The First Three Discs
The show is best described as Spinal Tap meets wrestling. It is truly a love-it or hate-it show. I loved it. The show presented wrestling in a new way and featured a combination of flippy wrestling and ridiculous explosions. The flippy wrestling was so over the top that it made TNA's X Division look like a bunch of arthritic old men. The explosions were so over the top that it reminded me of the old Batman series. Instead of the screen showing Biff!!! or Whack!!!, the screen lit up with a ridiculous amount of pyro.
The one thing I didn't like about the MTV show was the announcing because of the musical guest announcers. However, that problem is alleviated by listening to the alternate commentary which is fascinating. The stories Kevin Kleinrock tells about his experiences with MTV might be more entertaining than the wrestling itself.
In addition to the television shows, the DVD also features the Internet show that aired on MTV.com. I never saw them before this and now regret missing them. The footage of Matt Classic is so ludicrous that it is, pardon the pun, classic.
Disc Four
I won't go into detail about the footage on this disc because I don't want to put into your head the visions that have been in mine since watching it. Suffice to say, it has nothing to do with the previous three discs and can best be described as a step above being a snuff film.
I am frequently asked by parents if products are suitable for their children. Forget about children, I can safely say that it is not even suitable for adults.
Overall Recommendation
The first three discs were fun and left me in a good mood. After seeing disc four, I was left with horrible visions and a fear for the future of our society. I highly recommend the first three discs and suggest that you just throw away disc four if you are interested in a fun way to spend a few hours. If you are a fan of what is on disc four, you won't like the prior three and would recommend that you just buy a DVD set dedicated to the hardcore death match genre.
