The Twisted & Disturbed Life of Kane

© 2008 World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
For over a decade, Kane has wrecked havoc on the WWE. This DVD takes a look back at many of Kane's most famous matches over the years. The focus of this DVD is on Kane and there is no mention of any of the other characters Glen Jacobs has portrayed in the WWE (Fake Diesel and Dr. Yankem).

Review and Recommendation

The Packaging: In spite of the WWE releasing so many 3-disc DVD sets, there is no standard packaging for them. The most important job of any packaging is to protect the discs and the packaging of this set failed that job. The discs come in sleeves and when I opened the DVD set, two of the discs fell out of the package and fell on my carpet. If I opened this DVD in another room of my house, it is highly likely that two of the discs would have shattered.

The Documentary: There is no documentary portion to this DVD. My feeling on these documentaries is that if there is already a DVD with a documentary about the star already on the market, I'm happy when I don't get another one. Unfortunately, there is no Kane documentary on the market and this DVD set would have benefited from one.

Transition from Match-to-Match: Kane introduces each match while in a room designed to look scary. For each match Kane talks about how he likes destroying people. These segments get boring really quickly and are almost comical when you realize how he keeps talking tough despite suffering many losses on this DVD.

Prior to many of the matches, there are montages of the events that lead to the upcoming match. However, these montages don't have an explanation of the events behind them and newer fans might be confused as to why these matches have taken place and whether Kane is the face or heel going into a particular match.

Overall Recommendation: I have to give this DVD set two thumbs down. Despite being in the WWE for so long, there are very few must-see Kane matches that need to be a part of your DVD collection. In my opinion, the Kane character has been involved in better story lines than matches and the format of this DVD does not put an emphasis on his bizarre story lines. Things like Katie Vick, May 19, attaching a car battery to Shane McMahon's testicles, and being set on fire in a dumpster are either not mentioned or glosses over quickly in a pre-match montage. If you are a huge Kane fan then I might check this out. If not, I would recommend avoiding this DVD set.
