Money in the Bank 2011 will forever be linked to wrestling events like WrestleMania III, WrestleMania X-Seven, and Great American Bash 1989 when fans discuss the greatest PPV events of all-time. In addition to two Money in the Bank Ladder Matches and a controversial World Heavyweight Championship bout, the main event of this show will go down as one of the greatest matches in WWE history. John Cena defended the WWE Championship against CM Punk in a match that was scheduled to be Punk's final appearance in the WWE. Despite threatening to take the WWE Championship with him and destroying the company in the process, Punk's hometown crowd of Chicago were solidly behind him.

What I Said Then: Easily the best PPV event of the year. I felt that way even before the final bout which I should just award Match of the Year honors to right now. It has been many years since a non-WrestleMania event felt so huge. The stars aligned perfectly tonight as the in-ring performances lived up to the expectations this show had. A word of thanks also has to go out to the Chicago crowd which really made this event feel special. They were hot all night and their enthusiasm for everything that was going on made for a great television viewing experience. If you paid for this show, you got your money's worth. Normally, I'd recommend that you wait for the DVD to come out if you missed this show but I am not going to do that. I recommend paying full price for the replay of this show. It was that good.

Has My Opinion Changed? No.

Overall Recommendation: This event gets my highest possible recommendation. I truly believe that when this show is looked back upon in several years, many people will throw this event into the debate of the greatest PPV ever. If I ever get around to making a list of the top-10 PPV events, this show will be on that list.
