- The first 20 minutes features Edge, Triple H and John Cena trading unfunny insults with each other. Cena was censored twice. Triple H announces that tonight’s main event will be Edge against the team of John Cena & Triple H. Triple H offers to shake his partners hand but Cena slaps his face instead.
Rob Van Dam vs Rob Conway – Prior to the start of the match, Shelton Benjamin comes to ringside to do guest commentary. While on commentary, Shelton challenges RVD to a match at Backlash for the Money in the Bank title shot. RVD easily disposes of Conway with the 5 star frog splash. On the way back, RVD meets announcer Steve Romero and he finds out about the challenge. RVD says he will only do it if Shelton puts the Intercontinental championship on the line. Shelton has 1 week to thinks about it. Winner: Rob Van Dam
- Maria interviews Mickie about winning the women’s title. Mickie now thinks that she is Trish Stratus. Mickie then challenges Maria to a title match tonight.
- George Romero tries to interview Kane about his new movie See No Evil. A trailer with comments from some of the actors and director is shown. The movie opens on May 19. When the trailer is over, George can’t interview Kane because he left the set. It has to be noted that Romero is an announcer for the SmackDown! brand. The job he is doing is normally handled by Todd Grisham.
World Tag Team Title: Champs The Spirit Squad (Johnny & Nicky) vs Kane & The Big Show – In case you were wondering, all five members of The Spirit Squad are recognized as the champions. Before Kane & The Big Show enter the ring, Kane is cowering on the floor hearing voices in his head saying that it will all start again on May 19. After the commercial break, Kane & TBS totally dominate the first few minutes of the match and have all 5 members of the team lying in a heap at ring side as the show goes to another commercial break. Kane starts shaking his head, probably hearing those voices again, and then freaks out. He throws many chairs in the ring getting his team disqualified. He then choke slams Nicky, Johnny, the referee and even his 500 plus pound tag team partner. Winners: The Spirit Squad by DQ
- George Romero interviews John Cena. The lame comedy between these men continues.
- Talking about lame comedy attempts, Shane & Vince McMahon go to church looking for Shawn Michaels tag team partner at Backlash, God. I won’t go into detail about this, but I will say that it was very offensive, not funny, and did nothing to make me want to buy the PPV. I am assuming that this was filmed in a real church and I perplexed as to why any church would allow them to use their church in such a blasphemous manner.
Umaga w/Armando Alejandro Estrada vs Chris ? – Chris’s last name was never mentioned. Umaga easily wins this with what appears to have been the Asian Spike (thumb to the side of the neck). Winner: Umaga
- Carlito comes to the ring and insults his former tag team partner. Chris Masters comes out and says they have a match against each other at Backlash. Carlito then accepts the Masterlock challenge. Before it starts, Masters is distracted by Carlito’s apple and gets clocked in the head with a chair.
- A recap of the Chavo Guerrero situation is shown.
Women’s Title: Champ Mickie James vs Maria – Mickie, dressed as Trish Stratus, easily wins this match with the Chick Kick. After the match, Trish comes out dressed as Mickie James and impersonates the way she used to be and even plants a kiss on her lips. Winner: Mickie James
Handicap Match: Edge w/Lita vs Triple H & John Cena – When Cena was about to hit the FU, Triple H grabbed Edge off Cena’s back and gave him the pedigree. Cena then gave the FU to his partner and then put Edge in the STFU to get the win. Winners: John Cena & Triple H
