Brian: I'm not exactly sure. There are times I've almost caught myself doing that. There are a lot of things I get negative about that I don’t like that happen in wrestling. I try not to carry that over too much because I think there can be a difference between being upset or frustrated when something happens that you don't like and between being negative. The bottom line is that I enjoy watching wrestling and I’m a fan. If there ever comes a time when it becomes overwhelmingly negative, what's the point of me continuing to watch? Why should I continue to watch something, if I think it is negative and I'm not getting enjoyment out of it? There are some things that I feel can be done better, but for myself, I'm trying to look at the good of it. Otherwise, I feel like I'm wasting my time. For anybody else that wants to view it as negative and want to complain about stuff, that is their opinion and what not, but for me, I get too much enjoyment out of being a wrestling fan that I didn't want to do that with the book or even the show. There are things we talk about on the show that we question why things are done a certain way, what we like what we don’t like, what stands out to us at that particular time. Overall, I would say that we do the show because we like wrestling. We enjoy talking about it. We enjoy following it. We enjoy watching it.
Eric: Another question I have about the radio show and also something I noticed other Internet wrestling sites are doing is talking about mixed martial arts. I was wondering how you draw the correlation between covering wrestling and covering the world of UFC?
Brian: The funny thing about that is for the longest time, I kind of fought that because I really didn't think there was that much of a correlation between the two. There is one big obvious difference between the two. Regardless of what anyone says, is that one is supposed to be real and one is not supposed to be real it’s predetermined, of course the real one being MMA and the one that's not real his pro wrestling, because obviously it is predetermined. But there are more fans that follow both now and I think that the similarities are in the buildup to the different fights and matches. I think there's a lot of talent that has done both, whether they started out in MMA, whether they started off wrestling and switched over to the other. There are a lot of different guys to participate in both of them, especially in Japan, but you have seen a few times in the U.S. You’ve seen it with some guys here, especially Ken Shamrock, because he has had some success in both. I would also say that there are a lot of guys with [amateur] wrestling backgrounds that have done both. Obviously in MMA, they use wrestling as skill, you see some of the guys that are very talented when it comes pure wrestling ability. There are some guys in pro wrestling that have had a great amateur background. You look at somebody like Kurt Angle. This is a guy that won the Olympics in wrestling. He has been able use that skill and use that talent to cross over into professional wrestling and be a huge success.
Eric: I have one final question for you and it deals with the big news about the Wake Forest study linking pro wrestling to incidents of date violence. I was wondering what your opinion on the subject is?
Brian: I could understand where a study can come to that. There aree going to be some kids, especially younger kids and those in their early teenage years, where maybe that does happen. Maybe they have a tendency to be little more violent when they watch wrestler, but I would say a lot of that has to come down to parenting to. That is the one thing, I don't think the study can include necessarily. I’m a true believer that if you feel like your child is misbehaving or can not handle watching wrestling because they will become violent, I would then say don't let your kid watch wrestling. Or if they’re going to watch it anyway then watch it with your kid. Take an active role in their lives. If you see something that they enjoy, and you are going to allow them to watch, I would say sit down and talk to them about it. Explain different things. Explain why you should do one thing and not do another. Don't be violent. Don't act out on what you see on television. You can enjoy what you see but at the same time don’t carry it over into where you are doing those things.
