Starting with WrestleMania 21 in 2005, WrestleMania has featured a Money in the Bank Ladder match. The goal of the match is to climb a ladder and retrieve a suitcase hanging over the ring. Inside that suitcase is a title shot that can be used for whatever title the holder of the suitcase wants whenever they want to use it for up to a year. The match became so popular that in 2010 a new Pay Per View event was created called Money in the Bank which featured a RAW and SmackDown version of the match. Unlike the WrestleMania match, the winners of these matches can only cash it in on their brand.
The Winner: Edge
Cashed In: Edge waited to use his title shot until New Year's Revolution 2006. After John Cena successfully retained the WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber match, Edge cashed in his title shot to easily defeat the worn-out champion. Edge would lose the title back to John Cena a few weeks later at the Royal Rumble.
The Competitors: Finlay, Lashley, Matt Hardy, Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, and Shelton Benjamin

Rob held both titles for a few weeks until an incident where he was caught with marijuana in the car he was driving. Within days of the incident, Rob lost the WWE Championship to Edge in a triple-threat match that also included John Cena. The following night, he lost the ECW Championship to the Big Show.

Following the match and assault, Edge appeared and cashed in the title shot to easily beat the Dead Man.
The Winner: CM Punk
