- Hell in a Cell 2012 took place on October 28, 2012, at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

- During the pre-show for the event, John Cena was interviewed by Michael Cole inside of the ring about the allegations he had an affair with AJ. Michael asked him questions which were submitted by the WWE Universe on Twitter and Tout. After John Cena received a nasty Tout from Dolph Ziggler where he claimed to be the only real man in the WWE, Cena challenged him to a match. Vickie Guerrero came out to insult Cena and when she was talking to him, Dolph Ziggler tried to attack Cena from behind. Cena was prepared for this and dumped Vickie's boyfriend from the ring.

- The commentators for this show were Michael Cole, JBL, and Jim Ross.

Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio - Ricardo Rodriguez was at ringside for Alberto Del Rio. Alberto targeted the left arm of Orton which he injured a few weeks ago. He was able to trap Randy on the cross arm breaker but Randy was able to escape by reaching the ropes. The tide turned when Alberto mocked Randy and went for an RKO. Randy then went for his own RKO but Alberto turned it into a back cracker due to Randy's injury. Randy wound up getting caught in the ropes which allowed Alberto to stomp on him from off the top rope. When Alberto didn't get the pin from that he got frustrated. He went off the top rope and had no plan for when he landed which led to a very awkward sequence. Ricardo then smashed Randy's arm into the ring post which allowed Alberto to apply the cross arm breaker again. Alberto was forced to break the hold when Randy rolled him up for a pin. Alberto then went for an enzuigiri kick which Randy countered with an RKO to get the win. Winner: Randy Orton

WWE Tag Team Championship: Champions Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) vs. Team Rhodes Scholars (Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow) - The challengers dominated the match but things turned in the champions favor when Daniel Bryan made the hot tag to Kane. When Kane was about to give Cody Rhodes a choke slam, Daniel Bryan tagged himself in and delivered a move off the top rope. When he went for the pin, Kane pulled him off and started to argue with his partner. A few moments later, the two men started to shove one another after Daniel Bryan accidentally hit Kane. Despite their problems, Kane broke up a pin attempt after Cody gave his partner the Cross Rhodes. Kane then went insane and refused to leave the ring which caused the referee to call for the bell. Winners: Team Rhodes Scholars via DQ

Intercontinental Championship: Champion Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz - The Miz tried to ground the aerial attack of Kofi Kingston by attacking the left leg of the champion. He even took the padding off of Kofi's leg. Despite the injury to his leg, Kofi was able to escape an attempted Skull Crushing Finale and then hit the Trouble in Paradise to get the win. Winner: Kofi Kingston

United States Championship: Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. Justin Gabriel - Despite missing the 450 Splash, Justin still continued his aerial assault. He tried to leap outside of the ring onto the champion but landed right into an uppercut. The champion dragged Justin Gabriel back into the ring and gave him the Neutralizer to get the win. Winner: Antonio Cesaro

Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. The Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil & Darren Young) - The Prime Time Players beat up Sin Cara for quite sometime until Titus O'Neil's showboating allowed Sin Cara to create an opening to make the hot tag to his partner. Rey hit Darren with the 619 and then dropped the dime to get the win for his team. Winners: Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara

World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Sheamus vs. Big Show - Big Show was able to methodically manhandle the champion due to his size and strength advantage. Sheamus was able to counter the choke slam into a DDT but was tossed out of the ring when Big Show kicked out of the pin attempt. A few moments later, Big Show hit the choke slam which Sheamus was able to kick out of. Sheamus got his second wind and was able to hit the White Noise but couldn't get the three count. Sheamus then got caught when he tried for the Brouge Kick and was hit with the WMD. Sheamus was somehow able to kick out at 2. Big Show went for another WMD but Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick instead but could only get a 2 count. Sheamus went for the kick again but was hit by the WMD instead. This time, Big Show was able to get the win. Winner and New Champion: Big Show

- Earlier in the show, on two different occasions, Paul Heyman tried to get Vickie Guerrero to cancel CM Punk's match against Ryback. When those tries didn't work, CM Punk tried to get Vince McMahon to call off the match but he was also unsuccessful.

Divas Championship: Champion Eve vs. Layla vs. Kaitlyn - The first wrestler to score a pin or submission will walk out if this match as the champion. Kaitlyn was able to give Layla a powerslam-type maneuver but when she went for the pin, Eve broke it up by jumping off the top rope onto both of her opponents. She then pinned Layla to get the win. Winner: Eve

Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship: Champion CM Punk vs. Ryback - A giant steel structure with a roof has enclosed the ringside area. Paul Heyman was outside of the structure representing the champion. Punk was able to get an advantage by hiding under the ring and then spraying Ryback in the eye with a fire extinguisher when he tried to grab him. Punk went to use a chair but the challenger kicked it into Punk's face. The turning point appeared to come when Ryback rammed his own shoulder into the ring steps and then into the ring post. Punk then used a Singapore Cane on Ryback but that only served to give the challenger a second wind. Ryback gave Punk the clothesline and then had him set up for the Shell Shock when the referee hit Ryback with a low blow. Punk then pinned Ryback with the aid of an exceptionally fast count. Punk and the referee tried to escape the cage but were too slow getting out. Ryback then proceeded to beat up the referee and Punk. Punk climbed to the top of the cell to escape the wrath of Ryback. Ryback followed him up and delivered the Shell Shock to Punk on top of the cell. Winner: CM Punk

What does this event mean for the future?
The big news is that Punk's reign will continue at the expense of Ryback's undefeated streak. The question that needs to be answered is why the referee that Heyman and Punk tried to have fired a few weeks ago has decided to help them out.
The John Cena saga will continue tomorrow night as Vickie Guerrero has promised to show evidence which will prove that he had an inappropriate relationship with AJ while she was the General Manager of RAW. From a continuity perspective, this whole saga makes little sense as Vickie married Edge and also dated Dolph Ziggler when she was a General Manager.

Overall Thoughts
The huge question mark about this show was whether Ryback was a main event star. I don't think that question was really answered tonight. The match was pretty short for a main event and he didn't really do much more than he has done on television. While the crowd got behind him after the match, for good chunks of it the "Goldberg" chant was very audible.
I have to give this show a thumb's down as I don't think it was worth the money to watch it. When one compares this Hell in a Cell Match to the one that took place a few months ago at WrestleMania XXVIII, it is almost laughable. Even worse, this PPV kind of felt like an infomercial designed to get you to watch the John Cena soap opera continue on RAW as well as a tag team match added to the show just to get us to want to watch a six-man tag team match on WWE Main Event this Wednesday night. The commentary was also atrocious tonight. If there was a drinking game based upon JBL's references to Notre Dame beating Oklahoma last night, even the Sandman wouldn't have been able to stay conscious by the time the show ended.
