Against All Odds 2012 took place on February 12, 2012, at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Mike Tenay and Jeremy Borash were the commentators for this show. Jeremy Borash replaced Taz at the commentators table because of a loss in his family.

X Division #1 Contender's Match: Zema Ion vs. Jesse Sorensen - Prior to the start of the bout, Jesse gave a kid at ringside a football. In response, Zema tried to give the kid his hairspray but the kid didn't want it. A few minutes later, Zema took the football from the kid and hid it at ringside claiming that it was now his. During the bout, Zema hit Jesse with a moonsault off the middle rope outside of the ring. One of Zema's knees hit Jesse on the head and legitimately knock him out. The show was delayed for several moments as the announcers stalled for time while medics attended to Jesse Sorensen. Winner: Zema Ion by count out

Open Challenge Match for the Television Championship: Champion Robbie E vs. ??? - Robbie E came to the ring with his bouncer, Big Robbie T. Earlier in the day, Robbie issued an open challenge to anyone in the back to enter the Robbie E Invitational. The challenge was answered by Shannon Moore. When Shannon Moore rolled up the champion for a pin attempt, Robbie E kicked out and in the process Shannon went flying into the ropes where he was greeted by a big punch by the champions' bouncer. The champion then hit Shannon Moore with a DDT to get the pin. Winner: Robbie E

Knockouts Championship: Champion Gail Kim vs. Tara - Tara entered the ring with a brace on her right knee. The champion was escorted to the ring by Madison Rayne. The two are currently the Knockouts Tag Team Champions but didn't appear to be getting along as they made their way to the ring because of some recent miscues between the two. After screaming at one another during the bout, Madison finally had enough and left the ringside area. Tara was able to hit a moonsault off the top rope but was delayed in going for the pin attempt when she reinjured her knee. After kicking Tara in the knee, Gail Kim hit the Eat Defeat to get the victory. Winner: Gail Kim

TNA Tag Team Championship: Champions Matt Morgan & Crimson vs. Samoa Joe & Magnus - When Crimson went to give Samoa Joe a spear, Samoa Joe moved out of the way which caused Crimson to accidentally hit his partner with the move. The challengers then gave Matt Morgan the snap mare/flying elbow combo to get the win. Winners and New Champions: Samoa Joe & Magnus

X Division Championship: Champion Austin Aries vs. Alex Shelley - Alex Shelley looked like he was going to win the title after hitting the Sliced Bread #2 but the champion was able to grab the ropes to break the 3-count. A few moments later, Alex Shelley was able to kick out of the Brain Buster. The end saw Alex Shelley go for the Sliced Bread #2 again but the champion was able to reverse it. Austin Aries then hit the challenger with two brain busters and followed that with the Last Chancery to get the victory via submission. Winner: Austin Aries

AJ Styles vs. Kazarian - Christopher Daniels accompanied Kazarian to the ring. Daniels forced Kazarian to wrestle in a Daniels shirt. The first thing AJ did was rip the shirt off of his opponent. When it looked like AJ was going to go for the Springboard Elbow, AJ changed his mind and hit Daniels outside of the ring with a moonsault. Following that move, AJ went for the Springboard Elbow but was caught by Kazarian who hit him with the Fade to Black to get the win. Winner: Kazarian

Gunner vs. Garett Bischoff - Eric Bischoff was in the corner of Gunner while Hulk Hogan was in the corner of Garett. During the bout, Eric took a few cheap shots on his son. Hulk stopped Eric's interference with one big punch. Garett took a lot of punishment to his previously injured neck and Hulk wanted to throw in the towel but was waived off by Garett. Gunner then gave Garett a DDT to get the win. Winner: Gunner

TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match Featuring Sting as the Special Enforcer: Champion Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Hardy vs. James Storm vs. Bully Ray - During the bout, Bully Ray accidentally knocked out referee Brian Hebner. Bully Ray then hit Jeff Hardy with a Bully Bomb but there was no referee there to make the count. Sting was checking on the referee instead of making the 3-count. Brian Hebner regained consciousness only to be knocked out yet again. Bobby Roode brought his title belt into the ring to use as a weapon but Sting grabbed it away from him. Bobby Roode spit into the face of Sting which caused Sting to try and hit the champion with the title belt. He missed and accidentally hit Jeff Hardy. Bobby Roode demanded that Sting make the 3-count. He reluctantly did so. Winner: Bobby Roode

What does this event mean for the future?
This was a busy day for TNA before the opening bell even rang. The company made some mainstream news when word came out that they couldn't make a deal with Jason Pierre-Paul of the New York Giants. The company had planned to bring him in to do something with Kurt Angle but the Super Bowl Champion officially withdrew from the proposed appearance due to "exhaustion".

News of a possible upheaval in the writing ranks of the company hit the net earlier today. Reports are varying wildly but what is known is that Vince Russo was not backstage tonight and David Lagana was. Some sites are reporting that Russo is no loner part of the creative team and that David Lagana has replaced him as the head of the writing team. Others are reporting that Lagana was just there to help out with the show and that Russo wasn't there for unknown reasons. I'll update this situation on my blog as more details come out.

Inside of the ring, things are starting to heat up as we get to Lockdown in two months. The multiple unfinished issues from the final three bouts of this event will probably get resolved at that show.

Overall Thoughts
Sometimes it is easy to forget just how dangerous wrestling can be. Between the opening match of tonight's show and the final match on RAW last Monday night (R-Truth getting hurt during the main event), we have gotten two reminders. The good news is that R-Truth is already back in action. Unfortunately, Jesse Sorensen doesn't appear to be as lucky. During the show, it was announced that Jesse suffered a neck injury and is undergoing further tests at the hospital. For future updates on this situation, make sure to check out my wrestling injury report.

As far as this show went, I enjoyed it. However, the company really needs to take their shows out of the iMPACT! Zone. The crowds in London showed how much more exciting their show can be with a good crowd. The lack of enthusiasm the crowd showed tonight put a downer on some matches that paying crowds would have appreciated much more. The show lived up to my expectations and I think that if you paid for it then you got your money's worth.
