Destination X 2012 took place on July 8, 2012, at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Mike Tenay and Jeremy Borasch were the commentators for this show.

Last Chance Fourway Qualifying Match: Dakota Darsow vs. Rubix vs. Lars Only vs. Mason Andrews - In order to get a shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Austin Aries was forced to vacate the X Division Championship. All four of these men lost qualifying matches to enter the tournament to crown a new champion during the two most recent episodes of IMPACT WRESTLING. The winner of this match would earn the right to immediately go on to fight Kid Kash in the semifinal round of the tournament. Despite only competing in the iMPACT Zone once before, the crowd was solidly behind Rubix, especially after he hit a coast-to-coast drop kick on Dakota Darsow. Despite not being the most popular wrestler in the match, Mason Andrews won the match after hitting Lars Only with a jumping knee followed by an unnamed move which was a Stone Cold Stunner from a Fireman's Carry position. Winner: Mason Andrews

X Division Tournament Semifinal Round Match #1: Kid Kash vs. Mason Andrews - Mason had no time to celebrate his victory as Kid Kash beat up the youngster mere seconds after he won the prior match. Kash dominated the majority of the match. When Kash was delivering some knees to the gut, Mason Andrews was able to to roll him up and get the win. As a result, Mason Andrews will go on to compete in the Ultimate X Match to crown the new champion. Winner: Mason Andrews

X Division Tournament Semifinal Round Match #2: Doug Williams vs. Kenny King - King made some headlines this week by appearing for TNA as he is currently a holder of the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship. After appearing on IMPACT WRESTLING on Thursday night, Ring of Honor issued a statement saying that they would no longer do business with him. Kenny King was able to move on in the tournament after he hit a variation of a spine buster on Williams. Winner: Kenny King

X Division Tournament Semifinal Round Match #3: Rashad Cameron vs. Sonjay Dutt - During the bout, Rashad had several arguments with referee Earl Hebner. Those distractions allowed Sonjay to put Rashad in a position to hit the moonsault/footstomp to get the win. Winner: Sonjay Dutt

- A video package was shown featuring Jesse Sorensen's rehab from a broken neck he suffered during a match against Zema Ion back in February. The great news is that he is walking on his own but was wearing a neck brace. His doctor thinks that Jesse will be able to return to the ring and have a long career.

- After the video was shown, Jesse made his first appearance back in the iMPACT Zone since suffering that horrific injury. After thanking the fans for his recovery, he promised that he would get revenge on Zema Ion and that at this time next year he would be X Division Champion and cash in the title for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. When he was leaving the ringside area, Zema Ion came down to the ring for his match and the two men glared at one another.

X Division Tournament Semifinal Round Match #4: Zema Ion vs. Flip Cassanova - Zema dominated most of the match and got the victory after driving Cassanova's face into the mat. Winner: Zema Ion

Bound for Glory Series Match: Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle - The Bound for Glory Series is a 12-man point based tournament to determine the challenger for the TNA World heavyweight Championship at Bound for Glory in October. Going into the match, Kurt was in fourth place with 20 points and Samoa Joe is in second with 27. When Joe went for the Muscle Buster, Kurt was able to slide out of the move and then applied the Ankle Lock, which Joe was able to kick out of. Moments later, Joe was able to hit the move but couldn't get the pin. Joe applied the rear naked choke but Kurt got out of it and applied the Ankle Lock for the third time during the match. Joe was able to reverse the move back into the rear naked choke. Kurt was able to power out of the move and hit the Angle Slam but couldn't pin the Samoan Submission Machine. Joe was able to apply the choke again and the referee was forced to stop the match when Kurt passed out. As a result, Joe earned 10 points and is now in first place in the tournament. Winner: Samoa Joe

Last Man Standing Match: AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels - The only way to win this match is to hurt your opponent so badly that he can't stand up by the time the referee counts to 10. Daniels busted open AJ's face early in the bout. AJ returned the favor when he tossed Daniels into the ring steps which Daniels had previously stood up outside of the ring. The two men fought up to the top of the ramp. AJ was in control of the match when Daniel's tag team partner, Kazarian, came out and tossed AJ off the top of the ramp. Despite tweaking his knee, AJ was able to get up at 9. Daniels took a table out and tried to give AJ the Fallen Wings but AJ powered out of it and their momentum knocked Kazarian out of the equation for the remainder of the bout. AJ then Daniels with a Styles Clash off the top of the ramp and through a table. AJ was barely able to get up by the count of 10 while Daniels wasn't. Winner: AJ Styles

Ultimate X Match to Crown a New X Division Champion: Mason Andrews vs. Kenny King vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Zema Ion - There are two cable above the ring in a diagonal position. The X Division Championship belt is hanging in the middle of the ring at the point where the two cables intersect. During the match, Sonjay Dutt was injured and the medical staff took him away from the ringside area. Sonjay sneaked his way back into the match and tried to retrieve the title without anyone noticing. Zema and Sonjay climbed 20 feet to the top of the structure that was above the cables. Zema sprayed Sonjay in the eyes with his hairspray which caused Sonjay to drop down to the ring after he was standing on top of the cables. Zema then dropped from the structure to the cable and retrieved the title. Following the match, he insultingly dedicated his victory to Jesse Sorensen. Winner & New Champion: Zema Ion

TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Bobby Roode vs. Austin Aries - The champion brought his title into the ring to use as a weapon. When the referee took the title away, Roode hit Aries with a low blow but was unable to get the win. He then got into a shoving match with the referee that allowed the challenger to go for a brain buster. Roode pushed Aries into the referee and when the referee was knocked out he clocked the challenger in the head with the title belt. Aries was able to kick out at 2. A few moments later, Aries hit the Brain Buster to get the win. Winner and New Champion: Austin Aries

What does this event mean for the future?
Until the last few moments of the show, I was going to say nothing. However, with Austin Aries winning the World Heavyweight Championship, things have changed dramatically as we have seen the end of the longest reign in the history of the company. Austin's victory also gave a huge boost to the X Division which it severely needed. I'm looking forward to watching IMPACT WRESTLING on Thursday night to see how this all plays out.

Overall Thoughts
I have mixed feelings about this show. Because a majority of the event was a tournament that featured eight wrestlers that have appeared on TNA television only once in the past year and three others that haven't been involved in any storylines for quite sometime, I found it very hard to be emotionally invested in this show. That feeling is something that one should never have for the majority of a show you pay for.
However, whenever there is a card featuring AJ against Daniels and Samoa Joe against Kurt Angle, you are guaranteed at least 2 matches worth spending money on. This show had three as I really enjoyed the main event and the historic ending to the show. If you paid for this show, I think you got your money's worth.
