Turning Point 2012 PPV Predictions

By November 8, 2012

Follow me on:

On Sunday night, TNA Wrestling presents Turning Point 2012. The main event of the show will feature Jeff Hardy defending the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Austin Aries in a Ladder Match. In addition to discussing this event and predicting what it means for the future of the company, there is also an issue from Jeff's past issues which has led to a $750,000 lawsuit filed against the company by a former WCW World Champion that claims he was injured by an allegedly intoxicated Jeff Hardy inside of a TNA ring.

Before I get to my predictions, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank TNA for something very cool they are doing to help out in the relief efforts of Hurricane Sandy. They have created a special t-shirt where all of the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross. In addition, in upcoming weeks they will be putting up autographed shirts for auction. Click here for more information about the Make an Impact Campaign as well as information about how to donate directly to the Red Cross. As most of you know, I am from Staten Island, a community which was badly hit by the storm. While I am doing fine and my house survived without any damage, I can't say the same for many others in my community. I again want to thank TNA for doing this and also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has been emailing since the storm hit. The kind words I have received really mean a lot to me.

No DQ Match for the Television Championship: Champion Samoa Joe vs. Magnus - I'm predicting think that the No DQ stipulation for this match will come into play in a huge way at the finish of this match. For the past few weeks, Matt Morgan has been randomly interfering in matches. I think that he will do so here and in the process cost Samoa Joe the title. That will then lead to a feud between Joe and Morgan and also allow Magnus to get his first major push as a singles star as the Television Champion has to defend the title each week on IMPACT WRESTLING. Predicted Winner: Magnus

Devon vs. Kurt Angle - If Devon was higher up on the food chain of Aces & Eights, I'd pick him to get the win here. However, there are several people ahead of Devon in the structure of Aces & Eights. I can see Kurt spending the next few months beating a different member of group on PPV but each time it will be against someone with a more important patch on their jacket. Predicted Winner: Kurt Angle

TNA Tag Team Championship: Champions Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez vs. Christopher Daniels & Kazarian - Even though they are the tag team champions, I don't see Chavo and Hernandez as a team that will be together much longer. The response they got from the crowd after winning the titles was very weak and it appeared that Chavo had to invoke the memory of his uncle to get a sympathy pop for the team. Because of the lack of enthusiasm they have been getting, I think that the World Tag Team Champions of the World will regain the titles they lost last month and in the process create some dissension between Chavo and Hernandez. Predicted Winners: Christopher Daniels & Kazarian

#1 Contender's Match: AJ Styles vs. Bobby Roode vs. James Storm - I really like the stipulation for this match where the loser of the match has to wait until next year's Bound for Glory to even be considered for a title shot. Based upon his refusal to shake Kurt Angle's hand a few weeks ago, I'm think that AJ Styles will become a heel very soon and this is a good match to really kick that process into overdrive. A great feud for AJ to begin his heel run would be against James Storm. That frees up Bobby Roode to be in the title match next month. As far as the loser of the pin fall in this one, I'm predicting that this will be the start of a year-long story as James Storm tries to get a title shot at Bound for Glory via winning the several months long Bound for Glory Series that begins next summer. Predicted Winner: Bobby Roode

Ladder Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries - A few things point to a successful defense of the title by Jeff here. One is that he is the man who helped put the Ladders in TLC. A second clue is that the title belt has been changed to look like him. Lastly, since I already picked Roode to be in next month's title match, it only makes sense for him to start a new feud against Hardy rather than have a replay of the recently concluded feud he had against Aries. However, there is one major thing working against Hardy as the champion right now, a lawsuit against TNA recently filed by Scott Steiner. Steiner's legal issues with the company began when he was sued by them for some remarks he made about the company and Hulk Hogan. The weird thing is that a few weeks ago, I heard Bubba rally against the Hulkster about the lawsuit Hulk filed against him on the Howard Stern Show and he said that one of the things Hulk likes to do is use the courts to bully people but that it doesn't always work out for him as he was once countersued. Now, the same thing has happened again as an attempt to silence Steiner by the company Hulk works for has led to Steiner suing the company because of injuries he suffered against an allegedly intoxicated Jeff Hardy. Despite Hardy's past coming back to put the company at risk, I still see him winning this match. Predicted Winner: Jeff Hardy

Updates For New Matches Added to the Show

Non-Title Match: TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions Eric Young & ODB vs. Tara & Jesse Godderz – The basic rule of thumb I use when I do my predictions is that when the title is not on the line that means the champions will lose the match. Predicted Winners: Tara & Jesse

Joseph Park vs. DOC
– For those of you that don’t know, the Director of Chaos for Aces & Eights used to wrestle in WWE as both Festus and Luke Gallows. Since I have predicted that Kurt Angle will be beating Devon that means that Aces & Eights needs a win here and it will also help boost the credibility of DOC who is already in trouble with the group for losing his mask. Predicted Winners: DOC

X Division Championship: Champion Rob Van Dam vs. Joey Ryan – When I heard that Morgan was banned from ringside for this match, I felt a little bit better about the prediction I had previously made for the Television Championship Match. Morgan’s interference in this match will result in a DQ in this match. Predicted Winners: RVD via DQ

I like that the loser of the triple threat match will likely compete for a the title at Bound for Glory. Storm is the most logical choice. Might Storm and Roode have a rematch next year at BFG, this time for the title? I agree with most of your picks, although I suspect the Kurt Angle/ Devon match won’t be a clean finish. The way they have been using Wes Brisco, I expect him to turn on Kurt at the show and be revealed as a member of Aces and Eights.
