I am saddened to announce that Savannah Russell, better known to wrestling fans as Savannah Jack, passed away last week at the age of 63. His promising career in wrestling was cut short in 1987 when he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy which is a heart muscle disease. Over the years, he suffered several strokes and heart issues, including a cardiac arrest in 2003 which resulted in him being clinically dead for several minutes.
His greatest success as a wrestler came in the Universal Wrestling Federation. In 1986, he won the UWF Television Championship from Buddy Roberts, who was a member of the Fabulous Freebirds. He lost the title a few months later to the late Eddie Gilbert.
I would like to take this moment to express my condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
