Hell in a Cell 2009 DVD Review

Sunday November 1, 2009

On Tuesday, WWE Home Video will be releasing Hell in a Cell 2009 on DVD. This event featured three matches take place inside of the Hell in a Cell structure. In addition to the Hell in a Cell stipulation, six of the eight matches on this show were title matches.

What I Said Then: While there was nothing on this show that you have to go out of your way to see, there wasn't anything really bad on the show either. There were enough good-very good matches on this show to make it an enjoyable show. If you didn't see this show, I'm iffy on whether you should order the replay, however you should try to see this show once it is available on DVD.

Has My Opinion Changed? Yes. At the time I enjoyed the show, but looking back at it the second time, I really got the feeling of how poorly the three Hell in a Cell matches at this event compare to prior Hell in a Cell matches. While many have blamed the PG rating and lack of blood for that, I can't agree with that because the last Hell in a Cell match prior to this one, Edge vs. Undertaker at SummerSlam '08, was great and it featured no blood and also took place under the PG rating. My theory is that by trying to book three Hell in a Cell matches to be different on the same night, all the matches suffered because none of them got the full Hell in a Cell match treatment.

Overall Recommendation: If you want to have Hell in a Cell matches as part of your DVD collection, I highly recommend buying the Hell in a Cell DVD that came out last year instead of this event. That DVD featured almost nine hours of Hell in a Cell matches and all of the PPV Hell in a Cell matches on that DVD were significantly better than any of the three on this show. As far as this DVD goes, I recommend renting it as opposed to buying it. While not a bad show, there are so many better DVDs coming out soon that you should save your money for them. sweet, when Bragging Rights comes out could you please let me kno if their theme song will be intact, and I don’t see Art of Dyings song gonna be on the Survivor Series 2009 dvd, for some reason they will delete it with some other generic more rockin music just like they did with Summerslam 2009
