Jeff Hardy was arrested earlier today and charged with felony trafficking in opium, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $125,000 bond.
The arrest came after police officers executed a search warrant at his residence located near Cameron, North Carolina. The officers seized approximately 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine, and items of drug paraphernalia. According to the police, the drugs had an estimated street value of $2,500. Vicodin and anabolic steroids are considered Schedule III drugs in North Carolina while the Soma is considered a non-controlled prescription pill.
Just three weeks ago, Jeff was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Jeff left the company a few days after losing the title when his contract expired and he decided to take some time off.
The on-screen reason for his leaving the company was due to losing a match against his rival CM Punk. CM Punk lives a straight edge lifestyle and mocked Hardy for his past drug use including failing the WWE Wellness Policy on two occasions. If this arrest had occurred a few weeks earlier, Hardy would have been fired from the WWE for violating the policy for a third time.
Prior to the start of the WWE Wellness Policy in 2006, Hardy was let go from the WWE almost six years ago due to his issues fighting his personal demons.
