Brock Lesnar Unifies the UFC Heavyweight Championship

Sunday July 12, 2009
In his first UFC battle, which took place in February 2008, Brock Lesnar lost to Frank Mir. On Saturday night, he got his revenge on Mir and in the process unified his Heavyweight Championship with Mir's Interim Heavyweight Championship. It only took Lesnar two rounds for him to win the match by TKO when he pounded Mir in the face with a series of right hands.

While Lesnar proved that he is the man to beat in UFC, a little of his WWE pedigree came out through the evening. Prior to the start of the match, he refused to touch gloves with Mir. After the bout he taunted Mir, flipped off the crowd, and even insulted Bud Light, the biggest sponsor of UFC. He concluded his WWE inspired heel promo by telling the crowd may even "get on top of his wife" tonight. His wife, former WWE Diva Sable, has appeared on the cover of Playboy three times.
