Wrestling Then and Now DVD Review
Over the next few days, I will be reviewing some items that you won't be able to find on store shelves. The first of these items is a documentary called Wrestling Then & Now. The DVD is by Evan Ginzburg, the associate producer of The Wrestler and the person generally credited with being the liaison between the worlds of Hollywood and wrestling. With a resume like that, I was really looking forward to this movie. However, I was severely disappointed with the film. The camera work was atrocious at several points of the movie. There were no DVD chapters on the disc and the film has a running time of less than an hour.
Maybe that short running time was a blessing because it sure seemed like more than an hour watching it. In particular, the fan interviews were cringe worthy, especially the one where you get to directly look up this one guy's hairy nose.
The "plot" of this film is that there were interviews with up and coming stars as well as some veterans. The most famous people on this DVD are Killer Kowalski, Nikolai Volkoff, and a young Homicide. The film was recorded in 2002 but it took seven years to be released. It is obvious why this movie took so long to come out and I can't recommend any of you reading this to spend the $20 on this DVD when there are many better DVDs on the market. However, if you would still like to buy the film, click here. Please note that the film has a warning that it is for mature audiences only.
