Edge Injured

Sunday July 5, 2009
During a house show match against Jeff Hardy on Friday night, WWE Tag Team Champion Edge suffered an injury that required the trainers to come out. PWInsider.com is reporting that it is a torn Achilles heel. If that diagnosis is correct then he will be out of action for quite some time. According to an article by Elizabeth Quinn, the About.com Guide to Sports Medicine, after surgery a person typically has to be in a cast for up to 12 weeks. Then they have to wear a heel lift for at least six months. After use of the heel lift is over then they can start physical therapy.

In an interesting side note, the episode of SmackDown that will air on Friday night was taped last week due to the WWE overseas tour. It will be interesting to see if they find something that happened during that show which they can use to explain his injury. As of this time, the fate of the tag team titles that he currently holds with Chris Jericho hasn't been determined.

If the WWE knew of the injury why did he wrestle last night and schedule him to a match at the next PPV?

Hi Jake,

The episode of RAW that aired last night was recorded on 6/29 immediately following the broadcast of that weeks show due to the overseas tours the WWE are holding this week in Asia and Australia. There is also a chance you might see him wrestle on Friday Night SmackDown in a few days because that show was also recorded last week due to the overseas tours.

Eric
