TNA Lockdown 2009 Recap and Results

Sunday April 19, 2009
Lockdown is the one night of the year where every match is held inside the six-sides of steel. The show was headlined by the feud between the Main Event Mafia and the TNA Frontline. Sting defended the TNA Championship against TNA Executive Shareholder Mick Foley while Team Jarrett took on Team Angle in a Lethal Lockdown Match. In addition to these matches, Danny Bonaduce fought in the pre-show and TNA promised that a former champion in another wrestling organization would be making their TNA debut tonight.

Lethal Lockdown: Team Jarrett (Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, & Christopher Daniels) vs. Team Angle (Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash, Booker T, & Scott Steiner)
Team Angle went into this match having the odd-man advantage due to beating the members of Team Jarrett 2-1 in three singles matches on recent editions of TNA:iMPACT!. The match started off with Kurt Angle battling Christopher Daniels for 5-minutes. Then in 2-minute intervals, the ring was filled up by Booker T, AJ Styles, Scott Steiner, Samoa Joe, Kevin Nash, and finally Jeff Jarrett. At this point the roof was lowered onto the cage.

A few minutes later, Jeff Jarrett tried to hit Booker T with a chair but accidentally hit AJ Styles. He made up for that mistake a few minutes later when he hit Booker with a guitar. AJ then pinned Booker to get the win for his team.

After the Lethal Lockdown match, the lights went down and Bobby Lashley appeared. He pointed to the cage and Kurt Angle smiled while Jeff Jarrett looked concerned. The announcers made it seem like Lashley was a member of the Main Event Mafia.

TNA World Championship: Champion Sting vs. Mick Foley
Towards the end of the match, Mick got his barbed wire baseball bat from one of the cameramen. Foley got a few shots on Sting with it and then took some barbed wire off the bat and put it on Mr. Socko. After punching Sting in the corner a few times, Mick climbed the cage. Sting picked another corner but was way too late to catch Mick. Mick climbed out of the cage first to win the title.

Other Events of Note

  • After losing his match to Eric Young, Danny Bonaduce attacked Eric with a pair of nunchucks. The attack was stopped when Rhino entered the cage and gave Danny the gore.
  • In addition to the TNA World Championship, two other titles changed hands tonight. Angelina Love won the Knockouts Championship while IWGP Tag Team Champions Team 3D added the TNA Tag Team Championship to their collection of tag team title belts.
