No Way Out 2009 Results & Recap

Sunday February 15, 2009
Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship: Champion Edge vs. Triple H vs. Big Show vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Undertaker vs. Vladimir Kozlov - The match started off with Edge against Jeff Hardy. Edge went for the spear but Jeff Hardy reversed it into an inside cradle to eliminate Edge. Vladimir Kozlov is the next man in the match. He is followed into the match, in five minute increments, by Big Show, Triple H, and then the Undertaker. Undertaker eliminated Kozlov with the Last Ride. Triple H pinned Big Show following three high impact moves on Big Show. He was hit by a superplex by the Undertaker, followed by a Pedigree by Triple H, and then finished off with a Swanton Bomb off the top of a pod. Undertaker eliminated Jeff Hardy with a Tombstone piledriver. After a great battle between Undertaker and Triple H with many near falls, Triple H reversed a Last Ride attempt into the Pedigree to pin the Undertaker and win the WWE Championship. Winner and New WWE Champion: Triple H

No Holds Barred: Randy Orton vs. Shane McMahon - Orton was busted open badly when Shane hit him in the temple with a television monitor. Before Shane could take advantage of this, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase came out to help their leader. However, Shane was able to take the Legacy out of the match when he hit the Coast-to-Coast on Cody. DiBiase was ordered to take Cody to the back to be checked on by Orton. With the match back to a one-on-one situation, the match became methodically violent. The match ended when Shane went to punt Randy in the head but Randy wound up hitting Shane with the RKO to get the win. Winner: Randy Orton

ECW Championship: Champion Jack Swagger vs. Finlay - Hornswoggle proved to be a detriment to his father’s chance to become champion. Swagger threw Finlay into the ropes while Hornswoggle was standing on the apron which caused Hornswoggle to fall onto the floor. This distracted Finlay which allowed Swagger the opportunity to hit the gut-wrench power bomb to get the win. Winner: Jack Swagger

All or Nothing: JBL vs. Shawn Michaels - Rebecca Michaels, Shawn’s wife, is sitting in the first row. After hitting two Clotheslines from Hell on Shawn, JBL had Shawn outside of the ring and was taunting Rebecca. Rebecca hit JBL and that fired up Shawn who went on a major offensive spree that ended with the Sweet Chin Music. As a result of his victory, Shawn no longer has to work for JBL. Winner: Shawn Michaels

Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Champion John Cena vs. Kane vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Mike Knox vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho - Before being able to enter the ring, Kofi Kingston was attacked by Edge and had to be taken to the back after being given a conchairto on the steps. Edge then locked himself into a pod. The match starts with Chris Jericho against Rey Mysterio. Kane entered the match next but was eliminated by Rey following a 619, Code Breaker by Jericho and then Rey flying off the top of a pod. Mike Knox, the fourth man in the match was eliminated by Jericho following the Code Breaker. Edge and then Cena entered the match. Cena was hit by the Code Breaker, 619, and then spear before being pinned by Edge. Rey pinned Jericho when he rolled him up via a reversal of the Walls of Jericho. With the match down to Rey and Edge, Rey seemingly had the title won on several occasions but Edge somehow survived Rey’s onslaught and used Rey’s momentum to smash him head first into a pod. Edge then hit the spear to get the pin and win the championship. Winner and New Champion: Edge

What does this event mean for the future?
The Road to WrestleMania has taken a shocking detour with more questions than answers. The only thing we know for certain is that Randy Orton will be fighting for either the World Heavyweight or WWE Championship. However, Randy’s choice of facing the champion on RAW or SmackDown has a new wrinkle to it. Does RAW have a champion or will Edge bring the title to SmackDown. RAW GM Stephanie McMahon was at the hospital with her brother and it will be interesting to see if she allows the title change to stand.

Overall Thoughts
This is one of the better WWE PPV events I have seen in quite some time. The two Elimination Chamber matches were both great from a storytelling perspective and more importantly, both matches featured some great action. This PPV event was worth the price and I recommend watching the replay if you didn’t watch this show live.

Like Joey Styles says… OMG

Now, I hope Edge comes to Chile next sunday on the Smackdown tour house show… when Raw came in July, they had the Draft like 3 days before and HHH was drafted to Smackdown… they cannot do this to us twice xD

Well, I’m kind of shocked with the way the Smackdown Chamber match came out but I’m pleased. I really thought Taker would come out on top, but the Game proved that he was the better man last night. Now, the Raw chamber match really pissed me off. Edge already had his shot and they gave him another one. I really can’t see why that could happen. Now away from this my question is:Have your WM25 predictions changed Eric?

Efrain,

Maybe you will luck out and get both titles defended at your show.

Big Dave,

My predictions have changed big time. To be honest with you, I’m happy about that. For too many years, it has been obvious for months prior to the show what was going to happen and the programs just seemed to be going through the motions to WM. Now, I have no idea of what to expect at WM and I am really looking forward to watching RAW tonight.

I totally agree. This was the best PPV in a long time. HBK is my favorite so I anxiously looked forward to that match. The surprise was Rebecca popping JBL. You go girl! The elimination chambers were awesome. I thing Vicky and Stephanie are going to get together and make a decision about the title. I think Trips will come back to Raw. Leaving Vicky and her “husband” to play havoc with Smackdown. Just sayin’

Sometimes you don’t know what to say or think.
I always liked the Hardy Boyz they win a lot more than they lose but what I seen the other night, Matt picked up a chair and hit his brother on the head, that was a mean dirty trick and Matt someday will pay for it because Jeff is a better wrestler. The best and honest wrestlers in my book are John Cena, Rey Misterio and Babtista. The worst on is Randy Orton I give him a fat ZERO.

When is the WWE management abolish Randy Orton from the WWE? Orton should be behind bars, this guy makes me puke. The latest incident attacking Stephanie McMahon, this man is an insult and should be condemmed from all wresting events.
Also, referies that are one sided should also be abolished, evidence what was happening on Friday night Feb,20-09 girls wrestling, makes me wonder if some hanky-panky is going on with some ref’s
