Survivor Series 2008 DVD Review

Several weeks ago, WWE Home Video released Survivor Series 2008 on DVD. This show is more famous for the event that took place before the show happened rather than anything that happened during the show. The main event of this show featured John Cena, in his first match since having neck surgery, battle World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho.

What I Said Then: This show was pretty bad, especially on the SmackDown side of things. The casket match was overbooked to a point where calling it lame would be an insult to that word. As far as the WWE Championship match, an exciting two minutes does not make up for the absolutely hideous match put on between Triple H and Kozlov. The action on RAW was a little better but not enough to save this show. Even Michael Cole referred to Cena’s win as winning ugly.

Has My Opinion Changed? No.

Overall Recommendation: On paper this event looks good. The two big titles in the WWE changed hands. The show featured the return of both John Cena and Edge. The end of the SmackDown title match featured a surprise ending. However, something very bad happened in the execution of this show. I can't in good conscience recommend that anyone buy this.
