Cousin Junior/Moondog Cujo Has Passed Away

Tuesday January 13, 2009
I am saddened to report that Lanny Kean passed away last night from a heart attack. The Wrestling Observer reports that he was 48 years old. Lanny is most famous for playing the part of Cousin Junior in the WWE in the mid-'80s. He was part of the group of Hillbillies led by Hillbilly Jim and the late Uncle Elmer. His time playing that role was short-lived and he was replaced by Cousin Luke.

He later took on the role of Moondog Cujo and was part of the Moondogs team with the late Moondog Spot. The Moondogs feud with Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett in the USWA won the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Feud of the Year Award in 1992.

According to an obituary in Slam Wrestling, he is survived by a daughter, Crystal Hopper, and a fiancée, Sandra Deel. The viewing and funeral will be taking place at the H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, Kentucky. The visitation will be on Thursday from 4-9 PM and Friday from 8-11 AM with the funeral following Friday's viewing.
