Survivor Series 2008 Predictions
This Sunday night, the WWE presents Survivor Series 2008. My predictions for the event are listed below and in the order that I believe the matches will take place. In addition to telling you who I think will win the matches, I’m going to explain why. Feel free to let me know what you think will happen at the show by clicking on the comments link below.Team Michaels (Shawn Michaels, Cryme Tyme, Rey Mysterio, & The Great Khali) vs. Team JBL (JBL, The Miz, John Morrison, MVP, & Kane) - A few weeks ago, Vickie Guerrero mentioned that if MVP didn't win a match by the Survivor Series something bad would happen with his contract. The only logical way that this storyline plays out is if he keeps losing and has to return most of his bling. For that to happen, his team must lose this match. No other ending to this match will have any type of impact on the several storylines going on here. Predicted Winner: Team Michaels
Casket Match: Undertaker vs. Big Show - The Survivor Series has been important to the careers of both of these men as they both won their first WWE Championship at this event and the Undertaker made his debut at this show. In recent years, Undertaker has not been successful in these specialty matches at this show. In the past five years, he has lost a Hell in a Cell match to Batista, a First Blood Match to Mr. Kennedy, and a Buried Alive Match to Vince McMahon. He lost all three of those matches due to outside interference. I see that history being repeated and Big Show winning due to someone's interference. My guess is that someone is waiting in that coffin and will attack the Undertaker when he opens it. I really hope that we will be seeing the return of Edge. He has a DVD set coming out next month and I would think that the WWE would like to have him back on TV to promote it. Predicted Winner: Big Show
RAW Divas (Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle, & Jillian) vs. SmackDown Divas (Michelle McCool, Maria, Maryse, Victoria, & Natalya) - With five of the six Survivor Series teams being captained by a member of the RAW roster, you might as well throw SmackDown a bone and give the brand a victory here. I can see Michelle McCool winning this one for her team at the end by pinning Beth due to Santino messing up. Predicted Winner: Team SmackDown
WWE Championship Match: Champion Triple H vs. Vladimir Kozlov and potentially Jeff Hardy - Whether or not Jeff Hardy will be in this match will be determined on Friday night. The match took place over a week ago and I have to admit that I know how it ends. Since this site is non-spoiler, I'm not going to state what will happen and instead will provide my prediction under two different scenarios. I ask that if you post a comment about this match prior to Friday night that you do the same as to not ruin Friday's show for your fellow readers. If the match turns out to be a one-on-one battle between Triple H and Kozlov, I see Triple H retaining the title via pin fall. If Hardy gets added to the match, then I see him winning the title by beating Kozlov and setting off another round of his feud with Triple H with Triple H saying that Jeff still can't beat him in a title match. Predicted Winner: Hardy or Triple H depending on what happens Friday night
Team Batista (Batista, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, & Matt Hardy) vs. Team Orton (Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, William Regal, Mark Henry, & Shelton Benjamin) - One of the intriguing things in this match is the subplot involving Rhodes and Orton. As Rhodes has been trying to impress Orton, one of the best ways for him to do it would be to survive in this match. Orton got to become a main eventer in part due to his success at this event. If you don't remember, a few years back he used to brag all the time that he was the sole survivor of two consecutive main events at this show. I don't see Rhodes being a sole survivor in this match but I do see him surviving it. Afterwards, when Rhodes tries to crow about his success, Orton can continue to knock him by saying that he wasn't a sole survivor and that he did it twice. Predicted Winner: Team Orton
World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Chris Jericho vs. John Cena - If this match wasn't in Boston, I'd easily say that Cena would win the title. However, the WWE has a history of wrestlers getting humiliated in their hometown. Whether it was Bret in Canada in '97, Jim Ross joining Vince's special club in Oklahoma, Cena losing to Edge at SummerSlam '06 in Boston, or Cena beating Edge in Toronto the following month. Since Cena already lost a high profile match in his hometown in the recent past, I'd say give this one to Cena to make the hometown fans as happy as they were when the Celtics won the NBA Championship a few months ago in the same building. Predicted Winner: John Cena

This time I agree with 5 out of the 6 predictions. I just can’t see Team Batista losing this match. I see Batista pinning either Rhodes or Orton to be the sole survivor of his team.
Agree with all of your predictions… I think 3 Survivor matches are way too much for this event, hopefully the Cena match and the WWE Championship match will be good enough to save this event.
I’m leaving a question here, because I don’t see anywhere on your site to email you.
Why don’t you comment on the story lines anymore? I for one would like to know what really happened to Vince, and what he is doing now.
I don’t think Cena will win the title here. I think they will wait for Wrestlemania.
Hi Nancy,
You can email me by clicking on my photo. That will lead you a link that says Email Me.
As far as your Vince McMahon question goes,
whenever a wrestler is taken off of TV due to an injury I update the wrestling injuries article.
http://prowrestling.about.com/od/whatsrealwhatsfake/a/wrestlingdl.htm
From that article, here is what I’ve written about Vince:
Vince suffered multiple unspecified injuries when the Million Dollar Giveaway set collapsed on him in June. This is all part of a storyline and was the way the WWE chose to end his weekly million dollar contest. No timetable has been set for his return.
Thanks,
Eric
i’m not winning on sunday, sorry guys..
I just read Jeff Hardy was found unconscious in a stairway at his hotel today… wonder if it’s storyline or strike three
I agree with most except the divas match. I think that eith the raw divas will acually come together and work as a team for victory, Or smackdown wins because Beth and Mickie aren’t on the same page.
