Questions to Ask Before Deciding on a Wrestling School

Thursday November 6, 2008
In today's wrestling business, a potential wrestler has many schools to choose from. Choosing the right school can possibly lead to a successful career in wrestling. People that chose the wrong school have been swindled and severely injured. Even famous wrestlers have fallen prey to picking the wrong school. According to Gary Michael Cappetta's book Bodyslams, the Undertaker was swindled out of his money when he tried to start in the business. The Great Khali was involved in an accident that saw his training partner die. A jury found the school liable for recklessness.

Even though both the Undertaker and the Great Khali have gone on to have successful careers, they encountered obstacles at the beginning of their careers that could easily have made them give up on becoming wrestlers. The wrestling world could have missed out on having these world champions enter the sport due to these bad experiences.

I don't want any of you reading this to go through a similar experience. Thankfully, Dory Funk Jr. has provided me with a list of the questions that you need to ask before you write a check out to a wrestling school. Dory is a former NWA World Champion and runs one of the best schools in the business, The Funking Conservatory.
