Ugly Incident at Roast of the Iron Sheik
On Friday night, wrestlers and fans were in attendance at a New Jersey event to roast the Iron Sheik. During the roast, a comedian told a very distasteful joke invoking the memory of Owen Hart. A very inebriated Scott Hall took offense to this joke and let his anger be known. He charged the stage, grabbed the microphone, and slurred his way through some drunken rant. Scott was eventually escorted out of the venue. In all ways, this was a pretty sad scene. This comedian, and I use the term loosely, will be getting some publicity for making fun of the horrific tragedy that happened to Owen Hart. Unlike my fellow wrestling writers, I won't mention this guys name because I won't give him the free publicity that he is looking for. The funniest thing that this guy did was on his MySpace blog where in his explanation of the incident he claimed to love Owen Hart as a man but spelled Owen's name wrong.
As far as Scott Hall goes, I am saddened that someone with so much potential for living a good life has let alcohol destroy his life. Scott has had a very public battle against the bottle for many years. In the past year, Scott has no-showed a TNA PPV event and several months later entered rehab for a few weeks. After seeing the video of this incident, it is obvious that Scott should consider going back to rehab. Hopefully he has some friends that will see to it that he does.
