SummerSlam 2008 DVD Review

WWE Home Video recently released SummerSlam 2008 on DVD. The main events of this show saw the first-ever WWE meeting between John Cena and Batista as well as a Hell in a Cell Match between Undertaker and Edge.

What I Said Then: Not only did we get to see an incredible Hell in a Cell main event, we also got to see what should have been the main event of WrestleMania 25. The final two matches made this event feel special enough to be considered one of the big-4 events of the year, something that recent SummerSlam events haven’t felt like.

Has My Opinion Changed?: No

Editing Issue: Right before Undertaker sends Edge through the ring mat, footage was added to the DVD that features the strange Undertaker scary cut-in montages. This weird edit and the effect of it take away from this memorable moment.

Overall Recommendation: Buy this DVD. This is the best single-disc DVD PPV that the WWE has released in 2008. Since there is a Hell in a Cell DVD coming out in a few weeks, it is only logical to ask if the main event of this show will be on that DVD. This match will not be a part of that three-disc set.
