No Mercy 2008 Predictions
Rey's Mask on the Line: Rey Mysterio vs. Kane - Until the stipulation of Rey's mask being on the line was announced, I was going to pick Kane. However, the WWE sells so much Rey Mysterio merchandise because of the mask that they would be crazy to make him unmask, especially in a match that had this stipulation for only six days. While Rey has lost his mask in a match before that was in a match for WCW, a company that never realized the worth of Rey's merchandising ability. Predicted Winner: Rey Mysterio by DQ
ECW Title: Champion Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry - Matt Hardy is currently the champion despite never pinning Mark for the title. I don't see Matt picking up that pin here and I also don't see him losing the belt here either. I see this feud continuing at Cyber Sunday in three weeks where the fans will have to pick some type of match that can only end with a pin. Predicted Winner: Matt Hardy by DQ
#1 Contender's Match: JBL vs. Batista - If there is one thing I have learned in the past year, it is that Batista will find some way to get screwed out of victory in either a title match or a number one contender's match. Since it wasn't announced that the title match would be taking place at a PPV event, I can see JBL getting the win here and using that title shot on RAW in two weeks. Predicted Winner: JBL
The Undertaker vs. The Big Show - Since coming back from retirement, Big Show has yet to get a big victory. This should be the match where he gets it. However, his victory will be attained by the power of GM Vickie Guerrero and her ability to change the rules of the match in mid-stream. I would expect for a rematch between these men at Cyber Sunday. Predicted Winner: Big Show
Women's Championship: Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Candice Michelle - One of my favorite parts of RAW is the Santino/Beth storyline. That storyline will get more interesting if Santino has a belt and Beth doesn't. As far as Candice goes, she is arguably the most popular Diva in the WWE and it makes sense to put the belt back around her waist now that she has fully recovered from her broken clavicle. Predicted Winner: Candice Michelle
Ladder Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels - Despite holding a victory over Shawn Michaels, he has yet to pin him. Luckily for Chris, he doesn't have to pin him here to retain the title. With the help of Lance Cade, this match will probably turn into a 2-on-1 handicap match. Predicted Winner: Chris Jericho
WWE Championship: Champion Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy - While there is no doubt that Jeff has both the fan support and the in-ring ability to be the champion, there are major doubts about his readiness to be champion because of his outside of the ring problems. He currently has two strikes against him in the WWE Wellness Policy and is one mistake away from losing his job. If there was a time for him to win the belt, this would be it. Since this is a minor PPV event which leads to another one in three weeks, these 21 days can be a good test run to see if Jeff can handle the pressures that holding the title belt come with. Predicted Winner: Jeff Hardy

I think you’re right about most of these predictions, but I think you’re wrong about the Batista vs. JBL. Batista may have been screwed out of most of his title matches, but he has beat JBL before he can do it, again. I think your also wrong about Taker vs. Show. You’re right Show hasn’t had a major win since coming back, but he isn’t going to get it against Taker.
As much as Jeff Hardy is over, I don’t think WWE is ready to let him run with the title belt..
good choice but i think hbk will win and then lose the title back before cyber sunday.
i also think rey will lose the match and have to take off the mask. good news for the merchandisers is that he will have a second mask on underneath and will claim the match stipulations were to remove a mask not reveal his face. this was done by dr. x and the crusher back in the early 70’s and it kept the feud alive for a long time. rey and kane will continue for a while too.
I agree with some of your predictions, but I don’t see Jeff Hardy defeated HHH for the strap. I think Batista will win, and then he will be “screwed” out of his title shot at the match itself or on Raw.
