2008 WWE Supplemental Draft Results & Recap

Wednesday June 25, 2008
Two days after the WWE held their annual draft on Monday Night RAW, the supplemental draft was held on wwe.com. Just like on Monday night, a champion can change brands without having to vacate their title and matches that have been made for Sunday night's PPV will not be changed because of the draft. The only people ineligible to be drafted today are those that switched brands on Monday night.

Mark Henry - From SmackDown to ECW
This has been a huge 24 hours for the World's Strongest Man. He won a non-title match against Kane last night, was added to the ECW title match for Sunday night, and was now drafted to ECW. This move makes sense on several different levels. Finally someone from ECW will be in the match for the ECW title. It is also a good move for Mark because he doesn't have to worry about any retribution from SmackDown writer Michael Hayes. Hayes has recently returned to writing duties after serving a 60-day no-pay suspension for using the n-word around Mark. It must be noted that Michael has been demoted from the head writer position.

Jamie Noble - From SmackDown to RAW
This is the first draft move featuring a wrestler that is not a part of the upper-midcard or main event scene. The move will have little impact on either brand and Jamie will just get squashed by wrestlers on Monday nights instead of Friday nights. Jamie would best be served if the WWE reinstated the cruiserweight title.

Trevor Murdoch - From RAW to SmackDown
This move helps Lance Cade more than Trevor Murdoch. Since the two broke up a few weeks ago, Lance has moved into the feud between Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. This move skyrockets Lance up the card and with Trevor gone he won't be involved in a feud with his former partner that would do nothing for the card placement of either man.

Big Daddy V - From ECW to SmackDown
Big Daddy V has been off of TV for the past few months. As far as the move goes, it is a lateral move for ECW, SmackDown, and Big Daddy V.

Deuce - From SmackDown to RAW
I guess we'll never to get see a feud between Deuce & Domino now. I don't know if anyone will be upset by that though. Since the team has broken up and they are no longer on the same brand maybe both men will get some updated clothes and like Michael J. Fox go back to the future.

DH Smith - From RAW to SmackDown
So much for those rumors floating around the Internet from those inside sources that DH was going to be part of a 2nd generation wrestler stable on RAW that was going to be started by Ted DiBiase Jr.

Hornswoggle - From SmackDown to ECW
Hornswoggle will be teaming with Finlay on Sunday night in a match for the World Tag Team titles. If they win then the tag team champs will be on separate brands. Just to add more confusion to this situation, the tag team titles which are supposed to be a part of the SmackDown brand are currently held by two wrestlers on the ECW roster.

Super Crazy - From RAW to ECW
This move isn't crazy, it is super crazy (sorry, couldn't help myself). Super Crazy joins Tommy Dreamer and Nunzio as being the only wrestlers on the current ECW roster to have been a part of the original ECW.

Chuck Palumbo - From SmackDown to RAW
Nothing personal against any of the wrestlers drafted today but these moves are a lot less exciting than the ones on Monday night.

Brian Kendrick - From RAW to SmackDown
For Kendrick's sake I really hope that Paul London joins him. If there was still a cruiserweight division on SmackDown this might have been a good move for him but as it stands now this doesn't look like a good move for him. Now would be a good time to mention that there have been quite a few tag teams that have broken up over the past few weeks via either the draft or parters turning on each other. I'm curious to see how the WWE plans to restock their tag team divisions.

Matt Striker - From ECW to RAW
The Highlight Reel, Carlito's Cabana, and now Matt Striker's Classroom all share Monday night's. This move leaves ECW with no talk show.

Maria - From RAW to SmackDown
It took 23 picks for the first Diva to swap brands.

Shelton Benjamin - From ECW to SmackDown
I guess this finally ends the feud between Shelton and Kofi Kingston. Not that their matches weren't entertaining, but they seemed to be fighting each other every week. This is good move for the career progression of both men.

Finlay - From SmackDown to ECW
It's a family reunion as father rejoins son in the land of extreme. Now regardless of who wins the match on Sunday for the WWE Tag Team titles (the tag team titles on SmackDown) the belts will stay around the waists of two men on the ECW roster.

Carlito - From RAW to SmackDown
Good move for Carlito. His career has been pretty stagnant for quite awhile on RAW and hopefully a fresh start on SmackDown is all he needs to get his career back on track.

Layla - From ECW to RAW
Layla is best known for her dancing skills which were put to good use during her Extreme Expose phase on ECW. With that segment gone, there is no need for her on ECW. However, this can be a dangerous move for Layla because without dance segments on RAW and there being so many more Divas on that brand it could be very easy for her to get lost in the shuffle.

Kofi Kingston - From ECW to RAW
I don't know if he is ready for RAW yet but his unique style might help the youngster from getting lost in the shuffle

Sad to see Kendrick and London split up. I was hoping that they’d both be moved to either SD! or ECW. Hopefully they do well but I don’t see WWE doing much with them on their own. Hope I’m wrong.
