William Regal Suspended 60 Days

Tuesday May 20, 2008
After watching Monday Night RAW last night, I was wondering why the WWE had William Regal lose a match that resulted in him being fired. He was in the midst of the biggest push of his career and his role as King and General Manager of RAW had fans talking about his crazy antics (ex: shutting off the lights). The reason for his loss last night became apparent with a press release sent out by the WWE today. That release states:
"In accordance with its Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy, WWE® has suspended Darren Matthews (William Regal) for 60 days for his second violation of the company’s policy."

In 1999, William Regal was fired from the WWE due to a drug problem he was having. He fell off the wagon while he was in rehab. He wrote about his addictions and his near-fatal heart condition in his autobiography, Walking a Golden a Mile.

This is really disappointing. I’ve been a fan of Regal for a long time and was really glad that he cleaned himself up from where he was at one time. From the sound of things he hasn’t gone back to that stuff, which is good, but whatever he did obviously isn’t. It’d be nice if people would learn from seeing so many others die but I don’t know if it’ll ever happen. That’s very sad.

yes. It is. I hope he smartens up. I’m a fan since 1991 and want to see more of him wrestling or being involved in wrestling still as whomever (or just at home… and not on drugs)
