Judgment Day Predictions

Thursday May 15, 2008
Judgment Day is just a few days away. That means that it is prediction time. What makes this show unique is that One Night Stand takes place only two weeks after this show. Since there is so little time to set up new feuds between the shows I would expect for there to be several rematches. Since last year's One Night Stand featured all gimmick matches, I'll be making the assumption that it will again and will also try to predict the matches that will be taking place at that event.

Let me know what you think will be happening in the next few days and weeks by clicking on the comments link at the bottom of this post. Please note that I am writing this post before the airing of the final episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Since this site is non-spoiler, I ask that you do not mention anything in your comments about what occurred at the taping of that show. I will update the blog Friday night if there are any new matches or stipulations added to any of the matches on this show.

WWE Tag Team Championship: Champs The Miz & John Morrison vs. Kane & CM Punk - I'm convinced this match is only on the show because something has to open it up. All the other matches between men feature wrestlers more associated with closing a show than opening it up. As far as this match goes, over the past few months we have been conditioned to see that when a singles star battles a tag team in a 2-on-1 handicap match, the singles wrestler will win. In this case the challengers are the ECW Champion and the man with the Money in the Bank title shot. The only chance the champs have of keeping the belts is if all of Edge's friends show up to beat up the Undertaker's brother. Predicted Winners: Kane & CM Punk will win the titles

Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels - After Shawn's admission of faking his injury against Batista, I fully expect Batista to insert himself in this match. I see Batista costing Shawn this match and then battling him in a stretcher match in two weeks. Here is an amazing stat going into this match. Chris Jericho has not won a one-on-one match on PPV by pin fall since September 2004. Predicted Winner: Chris Jericho

John Cena vs. JBL - These two had a nice feud a few years ago that culminated in a violent and bloody I Quit match. In homage to that bloody spectacle that match was, I think these two are destined for a first blood match in two weeks. Predicted Winner: Double DQ

Women's Title: Champion Mickie James vs. Melina vs. Beth Phoenix - I see Mickie winning this match by beating Melina. That does three things. It keeps the title on the popular Mickie James, keeps Beth Phoenix as the dominant female wrestler in the WWE, and it will lead to a potentially good feud between Beth and Melina. That feud could potentially be better than anything that has gone in in this division since the days of Trish Stratus and Lita, although that isn't saying too much. Predicted Winner: Mickie James

Match to Determine the World Heavyweight Champion: The Undertaker vs. Edge - Since the title is vacant and the winner of this match becomes the champion, it makes sense that Edge could win the title via a DQ decision when the Undertaker uses the banned unnamed choke hold. Regardless of the outcome of this match, there will be a Hell in a Cell rematch between them in two weeks. Predicted Winner: Edge by DQ

Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship: Champion Triple H vs. Randy Orton - I remember when I was growing up that a steel cage match was the culmination of only the most vile and nasty feuds. Now it seems like a step to something bigger when it comes to a main event feud. That something bigger seems to be a Hell in a Cell match. If the WWE could put on two Elimination Chamber matches at No Way Out, why couldn't they put on two Hell in a Cell matches at One Night Stand? The X-factor in this match is King/GM William Regal. Orton's last three televised matches have all been impacted by Regal somehow. I expect the most powerful entity in wrestling to continue his ways. Predicted Winner: Randy Orton

As far as the show in two weeks goes, here is what I think we are looking at:

  • HIAC: Undertaker vs. Edge
  • HIAC: Orton vs. Triple H
  • First Blood Match: John Cena vs. JBL
  • Stretcher Match: Batista vs. Shawn Michaels
  • Ladder Match: Chris Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy

(1) HBK says:

HHH vs Randy match, did you considered the fact that Randy got the time off from house show? And why would HHH give up the title after winning at backlash?

Edge vs Taker, what are you thinking? Taker was promised a long title run…so why would they take that away? makes no sense…

Worst prediction ever!

HBK,

In regards to your comments:
1A – I considered that fact even though I have severe doubts about the story but since there are only 4 house shows (2 in the same city) between PPV events that shouldn’t be a big deal. I doubt they’d let Orton out of those shows since they are trying to build up business in Mexico

1B – Triple H’s last title reign only lasted one night. If he wins it back in 2 weeks, that makes him one closer to Ric Flair’s record of championships. Now that Flair is retired, Triple H has a clear goal to shoot for. By the way, check out the cover story of WWE magazine. It is about whether Triple H can beat Flair’s record.

2 – I don’t understand the point you are trying to make. Do you know that the title is currently vacant?

“Worst prediction ever!”

You are correct that they turned out pretty bad. However, in the prediction that seemed to rile you up the most (UT vs Edge), it doesn’t seem as though someone is keeping their promise of giving the Undertaker a long title run.

(4) Knockout says:

Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship: Champion Triple H vs. Randy Orton – For several minutes of this match, the battle took place on the top ropes and the edge of the cage. When the battle finally got back to the mat, Randy missed his punt and was greeted with a steel chair to the head. Ironically, Randy brought that chair into the ring several minutes earlier when he tried to escape the cage. Triple H then hit the pedigree to win the match via pin. While Regal was shown during the match, he had no part of the outcome of this battle. Winner: Triple H.

Does really you decided for Orton’s victory or You just taken alchohol or Drugs that confusing you? Triple H cannot lose to Orton Now, Triple H now in the highest momentum than all the Superstars in This Industry. Triple H, If you ask about how much he closer to be 16 time world champion as his former best Friend You can be Seriously sure that he will be 16 Time World Champion. First, About your prediction before The Results You really was wrong. easy to speak after The Results it’s not what do you think, Before This event I guess the Right Results.
