History of the Iron Man Match

Monday May 5, 2008
Over the weekend, Iron Man made over $100,000,000. All this talk about the movie Iron Man made me think about the Iron Men that have competed in the grueling Iron Man Matches. These matches require a wrestler to have even more endurance than Tony Stark was able to build into his armor suit.

Hm, looking at the History. I never knew that Triple H, Kurt Angle, and Shawn Michaels had the most Iron Man Matches. Those things are crazy, and I know 10 minute matches take a lot out of the guys. Strikes up a nice idea of a tag team bout, heh.

Actually, Bret Hart had the most. Unfortunately, with the exception of his match with Shawn at WM XII none of them were seen by a national audience.

As far as the tag team idea, while it would be a good idea in terms of keeping the wrestlers fresh and making sure the action was always going on, I don’t think there are currently two real tag teams out there that anyone would want to sit through a half-hour match for.

I really liked that feud. Too bad Triple H’s injury ended that feud prematurely.

Yeah :(
How about Cryme Tyme vs Carlito & Santino vs London & Kendrik vs Cade & Murdoch, in a 45 minute Iron Man for the tag titles? :D
