Several Dozen Fans Injured at WrestleMania XXIV
A pyrotechnic accident during the Undertaker's celebration at the end of the show left more than 40 fans injured and sent three fans to the hospital. The accident caused fireworks and hot cables to fall on the crowd. WESH.com has posted a video of the incident taken by a fan. The WWE has issued a press release stating that they are going to be investigating the accident that left.
WrestleMania XXIV Sets a New Live Event Record for the WWE
According to a WWE press release, last night's live event grossed more than $5.85 million in tickets sales. That is a record for both the WWE and the Citrus Bowl. Sadly, part of that money was due to the city of Orlando ripping off wrestling fans due to a controversial $5-per-ticket "facility fee". The Orlando Sentinel has written an article about the history of this fee and compares the fee from this event to other events at the Citrus Bowl.
Nipplegate 2008
In an effort to not offend the citizens of Orlando, a huge banner promoting WrestleMania XXIV was hung in Orlando featuring WWE Superstars with their nipples airbrushed. A photo of this non-offensive image can be found at TMZ.com.
WWE vs. TNA
Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm talking about the wrestling organization known as Total Nonstop Action, not the confusing Orlando ordinance that resulted in wrestlers losing their nipples. With the number two wrestling organization filming three episodes of TNA:iMPACT! at Universal Studios in Orlando last week, it was only a matter of time before wrestlers from each of the rival organizations fraternized with each other. The only notable thing to come out of this was that WWE Superstar Highlander Robbie appeared at the live TNA:iMPACT! that occurred on Thursday night. He was shown on the broadcast and mentioned by the announcers. It has been reported by many sources that Robbie was told to leave Orlando due to this. If we never see him on WWE TV again, this would probably be the reason.
