Royal Rumble 2008 DVD Review
Earlier this week, WWE Home Video released Royal Rumble 2008 on DVD. This show is highlighted by the surprising return of John Cena. It also marked the first time a WWE PPV event was broadcast in HD. However, there is no DVD release of this event that is available in an HD format. What I Said Then: Overall this was a good show. I don’t know if it was worth the $40 price tag so I don’t recommend ordering the replay. However, when the DVD comes out next month, I’d recommend it if you found it at a good price.
Has My Opinion Changed? No.
Editing Issues: The botched move at the end of the Jericho-JBL match has been edited out. So if you are watching this for the first time and are wondering why all of a sudden the crowd is booing loudly, now you'll know why.
Overall Recommendation: The Royal Rumble match is typically one of my favorite matches of the year and this year's show featured two surprising moments. One of them long-time fans will enjoy but newer fans will probably laugh at. The other was the return of John Cena. As far as the extras go, the match that featured Jeff Hardy jump 30 feet onto Randy Orton has been included on this DVD. If you would like to buy the DVD, click here to find the lowest price. If by some chance, you haven't seen last year's Royal Rumble or would like to add that DVD to your collection, run over to K-Mart because they are bundling the 2007 and 2008 Royal Rumble DVDs together. That deal is not available online.
Matches on the DVD:
- DVD Extra - Intercontinental Championship Match: Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
- Flair’s Career on the Line: Ric Flair vs. MVP
- Chris Jericho vs. JBL
- World Heavyweight Title: Champion Edge vs. Rey Mysterio
- WWE Championship: Champion Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy
- The Royal Rumble Match

It was very suprising that Cena came back at this event. I would still like to see Cena/Hardy and Wrestlemania. I think the crowd would go for Hardy!
