Armageddon 2007 Results and Recap

Sunday December 16, 2007
2007 started off with Kevin Federline beating John Cena on New Year's and the rest of the year has been strange. The only fitting way for this year to end would be with a bizarre moment. The ending of this show provided that.

U.S. Championship: Champion MVP vs. Rey Mysterio - When Rey went for the 619, MVP went outside of the ring. Rey then hit a flying head scissor on MVP outside the ring. Rey went back into the ring but MVP decided not to. Rey won by count out but MVP kept the title. An angry Rey attacked MVP after the match ended and hit the 619 to gain some revenge. Winner: Rey Mysterio by count out

CM Punk & Kane vs. Big Daddy V & Mark Henry - While Kane and Mark Henry were fighting outside the ring, CM Punk tried a move off the top rope on Big Daddy V. Big Daddy caught him in mid-air and gave him a Samoan Drop to get the win. Winners: Big Daddy V & Mark Henry

Mr. Kennedy vs. Shawn Michaels - The first part of the match featured Shawn work on the hand of Mr. Kennedy. Later in the match, Kennedy worked on the back of Shawn. Kennedy seemed to be in control of the match but mistakenly used his injured left hand to punch Shawn. As Kennedy shook his hand in agony, Shawn hit the Sweet Chin Music to get the win. Winner: Shawn Michaels

Winner Gets a WWE Title Shot at the Royal Rumble: Jeff Hardy vs. Triple H - At the beginning of the match, Jeff had difficulty fighting Triple H since they are both on the same side of the wrestling law. When Jeff refused to punch Triple H when he had the chance, Triple H slapped Jeff and yelled at him to fight. The end of the match saw Triple H attempt the pedigree. Jeff countered the move and rolled Triple H up to get the win. Winner: Jeff Hardy

The Great Khali vs. Finlay - Khali dominated Finlay but his desire to inflict more punishment cost him the match. Khali tried to take a turnbuckle off the ring but while the ref stopped him, Finlay brought the shillelagh into the ring. Khali grabbed Finlay by the throat when the ref saw the shillelagh and went to put it away. That allowed Hornswoggle to enter the ring. After a low blow with the shillelagh by Hornswoggle and a shot with it to the head by Finlay, Khali was easily pinned. Winner: Finlay

WWE Championship Match: Champion Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho - When this battle went outside the ring, Orton threw Jericho into the SmackDown announce table where Jericho crashed into SmackDown announcer JBL. A few minutes later, Jericho had Orton trapped in the Walls of Jericho. Right before Orton was about to tap out, JBL entered the ring and attacked Jericho. Winner: Chris Jericho by DQ

- Right before Lillian introduced the Women’s Championship match, Jillian Hall entered the ring to gloat about her new Christmas album that is now available on iTunes. As she was tormenting the crowd with her rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, the theme song of Mickie James started. Jillian left the ring without incident.

Women's Championship: Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James - The power of Beth Phoenix was too much for Mickie to handle. Beth cleanly won with the fisherman suplex. Winner: Beth Phoenix

No DQ Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Batista vs. The Undertaker vs. Edge - Edge took advantage of the no-DQ rule and got multiple fake Edge’s involved in the match. Two fake Edge’s were knocked out during the match but Undertaker and Batista did not know they were fake. While one of the fake Edge’s was unconscious in the ring, Undertaker gave Batista the tombstone. When he was about to make the pin, the real Edge entered the ring and hit the Undertaker with a chair. He then pinned Batista to win the championship. Winner and New Champion: Edge

What does this event mean for the future?
On the RAW side of things, Randy Orton will be defending the WWE Championship against Jeff Hardy next month at the Royal Rumble. Chris Jericho appears to now be on the outside of the championship picture and will have seek revenge on SmackDown announcer JBL. Going from the WWE Championship match to feuding with an announcer that hasn’t wrestled in over a year could be the quickest card plummet I have ever seen.

Edge has now won his fourth championship and each time he has done it in a more manipulative way than the last. There is no doubt that both the Undertaker and Batista will want to get their hands on the new champion.

Of course, the main event next month is the Royal Rumble match. The winner of that match will get a title shot at WrestleMania 23.

Overall Thoughts
Every match ranged from good to very good and the show delivered an ending that will be talked about for quite sometime. The one bad thing about this show was the crowd. The crowd was dead for this show and their lackluster reactions dragged the show down. I can only assume the crowd was in a bad mood due to the snow and seeing their Steelers lose earlier in the day.

Edge needs to quit robbing people of their rightfull earned championship belts. He is a wuss and needs to man up and fight like a man not a cheater!!!! Batista has earned that title and Edge should feel weak and little cuz he did not even fight cuz like I said he is a WUSSSSSSS.

Edge does not need to cheat to win a title, but jut remember that he is the only Rated-R superstar in WWE.

JBL sucks on what he did. It was another minus points for the greatness of the champ. And we want Triple H vs. RKO.
Edge deserves the the World Heavyweight title.
