SummerSlam Predictions

This Sunday night, the WWE presents the 20th edition of SummerSlam. Before I get to my predictions, I just have to mention that the following night, Monday Night RAW will be on the Sci-Fi channel due to the U.S. Open.

My predictions for the event are listed below. In addition to telling you who I think will win the matches, I’m going to explain why. Feel free to let me know what you think will happen at the show by clicking on the comments link below.

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero - Unlike the return of Triple H that will be taking place later in the show, Rey's return features him fighting the man that took him out of action. This match will end in such a way that the hatred between them will continue. I'm going with a Rey Mysterio win followed by a Chavo sneak attack. Predicted Winner: Rey Mysterio

ECW Championship: Champion John Morrison vs. CM Punk: - If Morrison wins this match then who would he fight next month. The only viable contender that is a face is the Boogeyman. I can't imagine that match taking place on PPV. A Punk win leads to a rematch against Morrison and a potential feud with Big Daddy V. Predicted Winner: CM Punk

Intercontinental Championship: Champion Umaga vs. Carlito vs. Ken Kennedy - How do you get a title off of Umaga and not make him look weak in the process? Have him lose the title when someone else gets pinned. I foresee Mr. Kennedy taking advantage of Umaga destroying Carlito and then sneaking into the ring to get a cheap title win. In the process, such a victory is sure to make his potential papa proud. Predicted Winner: Ken Kennedy

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Champion The Great Khali vs. Batista - How many title shots can Batista lose to three different champions since April and still be considered a viable main eventer? While I don't know the answer to that question, I believe he can get away with another title match loss without losing his reputation. However, a victory over Batista can do wonders for the career of the Great Khali. Predicted Winner: The Great Khali

Diva Battle Royal - In a slightly related topic, I am very happy that most of the Diva Search this year will not be taking place on TV and instead will be taking place on WWE.com. As far as this match goes, the winner gets an eventual match against Candice Michelle. Hopefully, the winner of this match will get their title shot unlike Cryme Time who is still waiting since New Year's Revolution to get their title match. Predicted Winner: Beth Phoenix

Triple H vs. King Booker - I can't imagine Triple H not winning in his return match. I also think this might be a quick match because he hasn't been in the ring for several months. Predicted Winner: Triple H

WWE Championship Match: Champion John Cena vs. Randy Orton - John Cena is pretty close to holding the WWE Championship for a year. The last time a wrestler did that was when Randy Savage held the title in 1988 and 1989. As far as Orton goes, have you noticed that in the events leading up to this match that Randy keeps saying that he became the youngest champion in WWE history at SummerSlam but they never mention who he beat. If Randy wins this match, then that would in some way make "he who will never be mentioned on WWE TV again" and John Cena have something in common in that they both would have lost a World Title to Randy at SummerSlam. While I believe Randy might win the title soon, I just don't think that it will be here. Predicted Winner: John Cena
