Judgment Day Recap
Judgment Day was highlighted by two different World Champions cleverly using the same weapon at ringside to incapacitate their challengers. The third World Champion successfully defended his belt by using a rule that no one knew prior to the match. It was a bad night for a former WWE Champion as he was carted out of the ring and may be forced to miss some time.
Ric Flair vs. Carlito - Torrie Wilson was not at ringside for this match. The battle ended when Flair applied the figure four leg lock and forced Carlito to submit. Winner: Ric Flair
- Todd Grisham interviews Shawn Michaels about Randy Orton and his recent concussions. The interview is interrupted by Randy Orton, who sneak attacks Michaels.
3-on-1 Handicap Match for the ECW Championship: Champion Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, and Umaga vs Bobby Lashley - Lashley hit Shane with the power slam and pinned him. After the match, Umaga hit Lashley with the Samoan Spike and Vince McMahon announced that the only way that Lashley could win the title is if he pinned Vince. Winner: Lashley
CM Punk vs Elijah Burke - CM Punk came to the ring with his ribs all taped up. CM overcame the injury and pinned Elijah after hitting him with the GTS (Go To Sleep). Winner: CM Punk
Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton - Te referee was about to announce that Randy would win the match by forfeit due to doctor’s orders but Shawn came out anyway despite the concussion symptoms he was suffering from. The match ended when Shawn collapsed when he tried to hit the Sweet Chin Music. The referee stopped the match, Shawn’s wife ran into the ring, and then the medical staff came out and carried Shawn off in a stretcher. Winner: Randy Orton
World Tag Team Championship: Champions The Hardys vs Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch - Just like last month, the Hardys beat Cade and Murdoch. This time the match ended when Jeff Hardy hit the Senton Bomb on Lance Cade. After the match, the two teams shook hands. Winners: The Hardys
World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Edge vs Batista - Batista came to the ring with his leg wrapped up. Early in the match, Edge rammed Batista’s leg into the steel steps. The match ended when Batista hit the spine buster on Edge. Batista got up from the move clutching his injured leg and Edge rolled him up to get the win. Winner: Edge
2-out-of-3 Falls Match for the U.S. Title: Champion Chris Benoit vs MVP - Early in the match, MVP targeted Benoit’s legs. The first fall ended when MVP hit the Playmaker on Benoit to get the pin. The second fall ended when MVP rolled up Benoit to win the second fall. MVP won the match 2 falls to 0 and is the new U.S. Champion. Winner and New Champion: MVP
WWE Title: Champion John Cena vs The Great Khali – Khali came to the ring with the WWE Championship belt he had taken away from Cena two weeks ago. Cena was able to get the upper hand in this match when the action went outside the ring. When Khali was standing on the other side of the ring steps, Cena hit a drop kick on the steps that crashed into Khali’s knee. A few minutes later, Cena made Khali tap out to the STFU and the referee handed Cena back his belt. Winner: John Cena
Match Results
- Ric Flair beat Carlito
- 3 on 1 Handicap Match for the ECW Championship: Bobby Lashley beat ECW World Champion Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, and Umaga. Since he did not pin Mr. McMahon, he did not win the title.
- CM Punk beat Elijah Burke
- Randy Orton beat Shawn Michaels
- World Tag Team Championship: Champions The Hardys beat Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch
- World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Edge beat Batista
- Best of 3 Falls for the U.S. Title: MVP beat Chris Benoit 2-0 to win the title
- WWE Championship: Champion John Cena beat The Great Khali
What does this event mean for future?
The huge develop to come out of this show was Shawn Michaels being carted out of the ring after collapsing from post-concussion symptoms. In reality, Shawn is not suffering from a head injury. He is currently dealing with a knee injury. The concussion angle is just a way to get him off of TV. At this time, it is not known how long Shawn will be out of action and what the extent of his knee injury is.
In two weeks, there is another PPV event scheduled. That event is One Night Stand and it appears that every match will be held under Extreme Rules. The obvious rematch from this show will involve Lashley trying to regain the ECW Championship from Mr. McMahon.
Overall Thoughts
Tonight’s show was just OK. If you ordered it you would have enjoyed the event but if you missed it you shouldn’t be upset.

Hi Eric!
Don’t know if you read my last comment but I went 5/7 on my predictions, I guess just like you. Good going! The tag team macth was like last minute so I couldn’t tell about it, but it is obvious that the bookers love the Hardys (so do I) and they want them to have a long reign, so they were not going to lose – (I would predict that)
I also didn’t see lashley winning, but that was interesting. And I would never put Cena to win so “easily” over The Great Khali. Now this giant is not anymore a figure to fear. (Besides I was hoping that Cena got his ass kicked and Khali got disqualified, in that way Cena reatins and Khali continue being feared)
The show, overall wasn’t bad, but i’m more interested in what is going to happen tonight on Raw tonight. My appreciation is that any Monday Night RAW after a PPV is often better than the PPV itself.
I’m just embarrassed that I forgot to make a prediction for the Lashley match. I’m also looking forward to RAW because they have only 2 weeks until the next show and with the relatively clean wins by Cena and Edge I wonder what they plan on doing.
well, I found this one of the weakest ppv’s from 2007, first of all, I was not looking forward to it at all, second of all, the matches were all just OK, I liked them, but it was all so regular.
I enjoyed the ppv, but it was weakly done…
