WrestleMania 23 Prediction - World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs. the Undertaker

Thursday March 29, 2007
These two men are a combined 16-0 at WrestleMania. Fourteen of those wins have been made by the Undertaker. Just like the John Cena vs Shawn Michaels match, this match pits the old guard vs. the more recent WWE Superstars.

Why Batista Should Win?
I hate to say this but it has to be said. Since returning from his arm injury last summer, there is something missing from Batista's game. He used to have the "it" factor. The "it" factor is impossible to define but makes the difference between good and great. I'm not the only one to notice this. Batista has not defended his title in the main event at a SmackDown PPV event since winning the title. John Cena was added to both events to up the purchase levels. A win over the Undertaker at WrestleMania would elevate Batista back to his former status.

Why Undertaker Should Win?
He is 14-0 at WrestleMania and has earned the right to wear the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time. Undertaker has been out of the main event scene for a while and has building up some of the younger talents. An Undertaker win would necessitate rematches with Batista that should draw well and in the process make Batista even better.

And the Winner Will Be...
Undertaker. At 14-0, the big questions are who should beat him and should anyone beat him at WrestleMania. While I can't answer the second question, the first is a little easier. The answer to that question should not be Batista. Things will be much more intriguing if Undertaker wins the belt. I think a loss by Batista could lead to a potential heel turn. As a heel, I believe Batista can find greatness once again. Another great thing about a heel Batista is that his former tag team championship partner Rey Mysterio will be returning soon. Wrestling fans would love to see battle between these two men during the summer months.

Hi Eric! Let me start this by saying that I really like your site.
Now as for the big match berween Taker and Batista it’s really hard for me to choose because I love them both - while it would be great for Batista to get the belt back but it would also be cool for Taker to go 15-0 because I really don’t see him doing this for much longer.
I’m from Dallas and I was lucky enough to grow up right in the middle of one of the biggest wrestling family’s in the south(THE VONERICH’S)so I known Taker for all long time so when Sunday gets here you can bet that this girl will be watching with her hands over her eyes

Eric, I think that Batista has a chance of winning but if he doesn’t that won’t make him a heel.
