Follow me on:

Was Batista able to win the World Championship in his final title shot? Did Lita retire as the Women’s Champion? Which Extremist got the upper hand just a week before the Extreme Elimination Chamber Match at December to Dismember?

Elimination Match: Ric Flair, Ron Simmons, Sgt. Slaughter, and Dusty Rhodes vs The Spirit Squad (Johnny, Kenny, Mikey, & Nicky) - The match came down to Johnny, Mikey, and Nicky against Flair. The 16-time World Champion was able to eliminate each of the youngsters to be the sole survivor. After the match, all five members of the Spirit Squad beat up the “Nature Boy”. Sole Survivor: Ric Flair

U.S. Title: Champion Chris Benoit vs Chavo Guerrero - Despite the interference of Vickie Guerrero, Chris Benoit was able to make Chavo tap out to the Crippler Cross-face to retain the title. Winner: Chris Benoit

Women's Championship: Champion Lita vs Mickie James - Prior to the match, Cryme Time stole some stuff from Edge and Lita’s locker room while they were being interviewed. Lita’s career ended when Mickie hit her with the DDT to win the title. After the match, Cryme Time came out and sold the items they “found” including a vibrator, Monistat, and a pair of panties that JBL bought for $100. Winner and new champion: Mickie James

Elimination Match: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, and CM Punk vs Edge, Randy Orton, Gregory Helms, Johnny Nitro, & Mike Knox - The team captained by D-Generation X swept this match. Knox was eliminated by HBK’s Sweet Chin Music, Nitro submitted to Punk’s Anaconda Vice, Helms was beaten by a Hardy Boyz back-to-back Twist of Fate and Senton Bomb. The tag team champions tried to leave the match when they were down 5-2. Edge and Orton were dragged back into the ring where Edge was eliminated by HBK’s Sweet Chin Music. Orton tried to escape again but he eventually succumbed to Triple H’s Pedigree. Survivors: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, and CM Punk

First Blood Match: The Undertaker vs Ken Kennedy - Kennedy bled from the mouth but the referee didn’t see it. MVP wiped the blood away then turned on his friend and tried to hit Kennedy with a chair. He missed and wound up hitting the Undertaker who was busted open by the chair shot. The referee saw the Undertaker bleeding and ended the match. After the match, Kennedy announces himself the winner and is then absolutely brutalized by the Undertaker. Taker hit Kennedy with an exceptionally nasty chair shot, drove him through a table, and then left him lying in the middle of the ring after he hit the Tombstone. Winner: Ken Kennedy

Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match: WWE Champion John Cena, Kane, Lashley, Sabu, and Rob Van Dam vs ECW Champion Big Show, Test, MVP, Finlay, and Umaga - This match came down to John Cena and Lashley against the Big Show. Cena hit the FU on Big Show to get the win for his team. Survivors: John Cena and Lashley

World Heavyweight Championship: Champion King Booker vs Batista - Since this was Batista’s final title shot, prior to the match Teddy Long announced that the title could change on count-out or disqualification. Sharmell distracted the referee to allow her husband to hit Batista with the title belt. Batista got control of the belt instead and hit King Booker with it to get the victory. Winner and new champion: Batista

What does this event mean for future?
On SmackDown the championship has changed hands but I do not believe that the main event scene has. I would expect several rematches from tonight’s show at Armageddon in three weeks with the possible substitution of MVP for Kennedy in his feud with the Undertaker.

On the ECW side of things, Lashley enters next weeks PPV with a huge advantage over the other five contestants. Unfortunately, the event is next Sunday and only one match has been announced. That match also features most of the established ECW talent. Tuesday night’s ECW show will be very interesting to see because many matches still need to be added to the PPV.

The next RAW PPV event takes place on January 7. Between now and then, one of the shows will be the Tribute to the Troops show. The big match coming up for John Cena will be against Kevin Federline on January 1. Edge and Randy Orton were thoroughly beaten by D-Generation X and Edge was embarrassed by Cryme Time. I would expect Cryme Time to be feuding with Edge and Orton over the tag team titles over the next few weeks.

Overall Thoughts
I like the Survivor Series concept and enjoy watching this event every year. As far as comparing this event to the previous nineteen, this event falls somewhere in the middle. I don’t believe there will be any moments or matches that will be talked about for years to come like previous events. Overall, I found this to be an enjoyable show.
