SummerSlam Predictions
Friday August 18, 2006
This Sunday night, the WWE presents SummerSlam. My predictions for the event are listed below and in the order that I believe the matches will take place. In addition to telling you who I think will win, I’m going to explain why. Feel free to let me know what you think will happen at the show by clicking on the comments link below.Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero: Even though last week I said that I felt it was OK for the WWE to continue using the memory of Eddie Guerrero in this feud, it is still a situation that makes for some uncomfortable viewing. I think that the level of discomfort will grow significantly when Vickie Guerrero sides with her nephew and costs Rey the match. I really hope that this does not lead to the fans booing the widow of the late Eddie Guerrero. Predicted Winner: Chavo Guerrero ECW Title Match: Champ The Big Show vs Sabu: I can’t see Sabu being pinned in this match but I also don’t see The Big Show losing the title. The fact that this match is not being fought under extreme rules clues me in to a possible disqualification finish. I also would not be surprised to see the two security guards turn out to be Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam. Predicted Winner: Big Show by DQ I Quit Match: Ric Flair vs Mick Foley: This battle between two true wrestling legends has to end with one of the men saying “I Quit”. Both men have been involved in memorable I Quit matches. Flair’s 1989 battle with Terry Funk is one of Mick Foley’s favorite matches. Mick’s 2000 Royal Rumble battle with the Rock will be always be remembered for the insane chair shots that Mick took to the head as well as his daughter's reaction to that in the movie Beyond the Mat. Mick lost that match and I think that Mick will also lose this one. Predicted Winner: Ric Flair Vince & Shane McMahon vs D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels & Triple H): Of all the matches on this show, this is the easiest one for me to predict. The feud between Vince and Shawn has run its course and has to end here. Shawn and Triple H are each still a viable part of the main event scene while Vince and Shane are part-time wrestlers. D-Generation X will win this match despite the interference of Umaga. Predicted Winner: D-Generation X Hulk Hogan vs Randy Orton: This is the most intriguing match of the night. There are several reason why Hulk could either win or lose this match. Randy Orton needs this win to solidify himself as a main event wrestler. Regardless of what happens to Hulk, he is still an icon. The important thing to remember is that the dream match for WrestleMania is Hulk Hogan vs Steve Austin. If this match were to happen, a lot of politics would be going on. Hulk’s willingness to make Randy a star could be enough for Vince to give Hulk a win over Austin. In addition, Vince has been very good for Brooke Hogan’s career since he showed her video to a nationwide primetime audience on the recent Saturday Night’s Main Event. Hulk’s recent knee problems give him a good excuse to lose this match with a courageous performance. Predicted Winner: Randy Orton World Heavyweight Championship: Champion King Booker vs Batista: There is no doubt that Batista will eventually win back the title he never lost but will he do it at SummerSlam. Because the talent pool is so thin on SmackDown, there are no main event level bad guys for him to defend the title against. None of the members of King Booker’s loyal family are wrestling on this show. It is probable they will be interfering in this match causing King Booker to be disqualified. Predicted Winner: Batista by DQ WWE Title: Champ can lose the title if disqualified - Champ Edge vs John Cena While the crowd reaction is usually mixed for John Cena, it will not be at SummerSlam because he will be wrestling in front of his home town crowd. The disqualification stipulation will play a factor in this match as Edge will probably want to cheat but is afraid of being caught since he would lose the title. This will cause him to lose his focus and allow Cena to get the win. Predicted Winner: John Cena

batista ascends to the top of the mountain again and leaves booker t with his robe to wipe away his tears!
flair’s last hurrah. a narrow in over foley will soildify flair’s place among the immortals of the business. flair will the be clear to forsake active combat & pick up a microphone where he will be a viable contributor for years to come.
OK, I agree with your predictions, but I gotta confess, this Guerrero thread has gone on TOO LONG! Let him rest in peace and drop the plot line.
I agree with every match but Cena Vs Edge. I hope Edge wins this match and maybe this feud can come to a end. Edge please finish this.
