7/31 RAW Recap

Monday July 31, 2006
The ongoing feud between D-Generation X and The McMahon family continued with an act of vandalism to the WWE corporate headquarters. Someone spray painted the office with a giant D-X. The McMahon’s finally got some retribution as they planted three boxes of Cuban cigars on Triple H with the help of Armando Alejandro Estrada. In the main event, Armando’s protégé, Umaga battled Shawn Michaels. With the aid of Vince and Shane, Umaga kept his undefeated streak intact. After the match, Vince and Shane beat up Shawn and announced that next week Umaga will take on Triple H. It was officially announced that D-Generation X will be facing Vince and Shane McMahon at SummerSlam.

In other events leading to SummerSlam, Randy Orton mocked the Hogan family with a parody of their reality TV show called Orton Knows Best. After insulting Hulk, he physically assaulted Jerry Lawler for throwing him into the ring against Hulk last week. Lawler and Orton will face each other at RAW next week, which takes place in Lawler’s hometown of Memphis, TN. As an aside, many other Internet sites, some of which require subscriptions, were fooled by the Hulk Hogan impersonator and were posting spoilers that Hulk was going to be on tonight’s show. For the record, this site never posts spoilers unless they are reported by WWE or TNA first.

The Mick Foley vs Ric Flair feud continued tonight as Mick insulted Flair during a promo which brought Flair out to the ring. Foley made Flair go nuts when he insulted his ability to keep a family together. The Coach announced that Flair and Foley would fight each other at SummerSlam but Foley said that his contract enables him to determine who and when he fights. Foley feels that he only has so many matches left in him and that he doesn’t want to waste one on a washed up Flair.

In other action, John Cena beat Matt Striker. It was announced that he will be fighting Edge at SummerSlam in a match where Edge can lose the title if he is disqualified. Rebecca was voted off the Diva search. Johnny Nitro successfully defended the I-C title with the help of Melina, Rory of The Highlanders beat The Spirit Squad’s Johnny, and the Divas were in action in a match featuring Torrie Wilson as special referee.

Match Results:

  • I-C Title: Champ Johnny Nitro beat Shelton Benjamin & Carlito
  • Trish Stratus & Candice Michelle beat Mickie James & Victoria – Torrie Wilson was the referee
  • John Cena beat Matt Striker
  • Rory beat Johnny
  • Umaga beat Shawn Michaels
