TNA Victory Road PPV Recap

Sunday July 16, 2006
The Naturals (Andy Douglas/Chase Stevens) w/Shane Douglas vs Diamonds in the Rough (Elix Skipper/David Young) w/Simon Diamond - This is the first match for The Naturals since they started training with their new mentor, Shane Douglas. The Naturals have a new outfit and haircuts. The match ended when Stevens held Skipper in the air and allowed his partner to hit a drop kick off the top rope on Skipper. After winning the match, Shane Douglas berated his new pupils about how he demands perfection and that they shouldn’t get too cocky after one win. Winners: The Naturals

Rhino vs Monty Brown - This match was a total brawl that saw the referee get knocked out with both the pounce and the gore. When the two men brawled in the crowd, security tried to separate them. Winner: No Contest

The Latin American Exchange (Homicide/Hernandez) w/Konnan vs Ron Killings & Sonjay Dutt - The difference in this match was the outside interference of Konnan. After he hit Sonjay with his slap jack, Hernandez tossed him on his head with a power bomb type of move to get the win. Winner: The LAX

Team Canada’s Final Appearance - The former members of Team Canada make their final appearance in the iMPACT! zone. Coach D’Amore gives each member a nice send off and they all diss Eric Young. When it is time for D’Amore to speak about Young, he blames Eric’s paranoia for causing the team to be broken up. He makes Eric take off his Team Canada shirt and pants since there is no more Team Canada. Eric, in his underwear is so worried about beig fired that the crowd starts a Don’t Fire Eric chant.

- TNA announces that the Bound for Glory PPV in October will be taking place in Detroit, MI. This will be the first monthly TNA PPV event to take place outside of the iMPACT! zone and will be the first one that people will have to pay to attend.

X Division Title: Champ Senshi vs ??? - The mystery opponent turns out to be Frankie Kazarian, a former two time X Division champion who has not been in TNA for a long time. Senshi scored the win after hitting Kazarian with the Warrior’s Way (double foot stomp off the top rope). Winner: Senshi

Hair vs Hair Match: Raven vs Larry Zbysko - “Slick” Johnson was the referee for this match and immediately showed his favoritism by tripping Larry. He was accidentally knocked out during the match and missed a Raven pinfall attempt after hitting the DDT. A few minutes later, Raven hit another DDT to get the win. After the match, Larry tried to leave the ring but security forced him into the barber chair. Raven used duct tape to keep Larry in place and proceeded to cut off all of Larry’s hair. Winner: Raven

Kevin Nash & Alex Shelley w/Johnny Devine vs Chris Sabin & Jay Lethal - Sabin missed a cradle shock attempt when Shelley raked his eyes. A few moments later, Sabin made a surprising roll up pin on Shelley to get the win. After the match, Devine, Nash, & Shelley started to beat up their opponents when Jerry Lynn ran into the ring with a chair. He then threw his employee pass down and challenged the three men to come into the ring. Winners: Chris Sabin & Jay Lethal

The James Gang & Abyss vs Team 3D (Bubba Rey/D-Von/Runt) - This match was a brawl that featured many weapons and battling through the arena. At one point, Brother Rey stapled a sign that said “ECW fear TNA” to the face of Abyss. The match ended when Runt tried to do an Acid Drop to Abyss through a table. Abyss overpowered Runt and hit the black hole slam through the table to get the win. Winners: The James Gang & Abyss

6 Person Mixed Tag Team Match for the NWA Title: Champs AJ Styles & Chris Daniels, and Sirelda vs America’s Most Wanted (Chris Harris/James Storm) and Gail Kim - This is AMW’s final shot at the title. This is Sirelda’s first nationally televised match and she was willing to take on the men and they had no problems with htiing a woman. For the past few weeks, AMW has seen some of their cheating backfire and this match continued the trend. Chris Harris tried to hit AJ Styles with a chair but accidentally hit his partner instead. AJ then pinned Storm to get the win. Winners: AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, & Sirelda

#1 Contender’s Match: Christian Cage vs Sting vs Samoa Joe vs Scott Steiner - The winner of this match will face Jeff Jarrett for the NWA championship next month at Hard Justice. During the match, Jeff Jarret came to ringside dressed as a crew member and squirted something in Sting’s eye. Jarrett was thrown out of the building and doctor’s took Sting to the back for medical attention. When Steiner had Christian in the Steiner recliner, Joe applied the choke hold to Steiner. Joe saw Christian climb the ropes and he tried the muscle buster on Christian. Steiner prevented it and Sting came back with half his face bandaged due to the gasoline that Jarret sprayed in his eyes. Christian and Joe wound up outside the ring. Inside the ring, Sting hit the scorpion death drop on Steiner to get the win and the title shot next month. After the match, Christian & Sting shook hands. Winner: Sting
