Saturday Night's Main Event Preview

Wednesday July 12, 2006
The WWE returns to NBC this Saturday night at 8 P.M. with a live edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The matches and events taking place are as follows:

Hulk Hogan Returns - Hulk Hogan will make a special appearance with his daughter Brooke. At the first Saturday Night’s Main Event, Hulk Hogan pinned Bob Orton. Recently, Bob’s son, Randy Orton has made several lewd comments about Hulk’s daughter.

WWE Title: Champ Edge vs John Cena - These two men traded the title between each other in January. Since then, Edge cost John Cena the title in a match against Rob Van Dam. Edge then won the title in a three way match against champion RVD and John Cena by using the title on John Cena and pinning the unconscious RVD after Cena applied his finishing maneuver, the FU, to him.

5 on 2 Elimination Match: D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels & Triple H) vs The Spirit Squad (Kenny/Mikey/Nicky/Johnny/Mitch) - Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels have been feuding since last year. Since then, Shawn has reformed D-Generation X with his old friend Triple H. The Spirit Squad are allies of Vince McMahon and the current tag team champions. The rules of this match are every man has to be eliminated from one team in order for the other team to get the victory.

Six Man Tag Team Match: Batista, Rey Mysterio, & Lashley vs King Booker, Mark Henry, & Finlay - This is Batista’s first televised match since being injured by Mark Henry back in January. He was forced to forfeit the World Championship due to this injury. His partner, Rey Mysterio is the current champion and will be facing King Booker in the main event of The Great American Bash next weekend. Also at The Great American Bash, Batista will be facing Mark “The World’s Strongest Man” Henry. Lashley and Finlay will be fighting for the U.S. title in a triple threat match against King Booker’s loyal subject William Regal.

Mixed Tag Team Match: I-C Champ Johnny Nitro & Melina vs Trish Stratus & Carlito - Trish and Melina have been arguing about who the real Diva on RAW is. Johnny Nitro recently won the Intercontinental championship in a triple threat match that also involved champion Shelton Benjamin and Carlito.

Extreme Rules Match: Sabu vs ??? - Sabu recently made national news by being involved in a drug bust with then WWE & ECW World Champion Rob Van Dam. He was fined $1,000 by the WWE for his actions. His opponent for tonight’s match has not been announced yet but Sabu will be free to use any weapon he chooses in this match.

Bikini bull-riding contest - This is the first ever bikini bull-riding contest in WWE history. Ten Divas will be participating in this event and will be representing all three brands of WWE action. Representing RAW is Women’s Champ Mickie James, Candice Michelle, Victoria, Torrie Wilson, & Maria. SmackDown! will be represented by Jillian, Michelle McCool, Ashley, & Kristal. Kelly will be representing ECW.

This looks like it’s going to be an awesome show. I can’t believe it’s back on NBC!
Is RVD back or is he still out because of the pot?
My prediction is that Hulk can definitely take down Randy Orton, but it would be interesting to see me proved wrong.

Hi Sue,

RVD was suspended for 30 days without pay due to his legal situation. His last match prior to the suspension was on July 4. That means he should be out until 8/3 but the WWE can always change their mind if they want him back earlier.
