WWE Champion Rob Van Dam and Sabu Busted for Drugs
As the WWE Champion, RVD was scheduled to be in the main event of Monday Night RAW tonight (a three team tag team match) and defend his title on a live telecast of ECW on Sci Fi tomorrow night against Edge. At this time, it is unknown what will happen to those matches. Prior to entering the WWE, RVD was featured in High Times and was known by the nickname Mr. 4:20.
After the death of Eddie Guerrero last year, the WWE has instituted a new Wellness Program. A clause in the Wellness Program states that any wrestler arrested for a violation of the law relating to use, possession, purchase, sale or distribution of prohibited drugs will be in material breach of contract and subject to immediate dismissal. This is the first public incident that will put this program to the test.
Update: The main event of Monday Night RAW was changed and Rob Van Dam lost the WWE Championship to Edge. The WWE has stated that both RVD and Sabu will be allowed to compete while they conduct an internal investigation of the incident.
