TNA Slammiversary Recap

Tonight's event was a great way to celebrate the fourth anniversary of TNA. Tonight's action ushered in a new era for the company as a legendary wrestling figure was announced as the new management of the comapny and two titles change hands. However, this new era starts with a very familiar NWA World Champion or does it? I guess we'll have to find out the NWA World title confusion on Thursday.

Pre-Show Match: The Naturals (Douglas & Stevens) w/Shane Douglas vs A1 & Eric Young - Even though they controlled most of the match, The Naturals found a way to continue their losing streak. Shane Douglas was watching from the top of the ramp and entered the ring after the match. He informed The Naturals that they won’t appear in the ring again until he deems them ready to have completed his training. Winners: A1 & Eric Young

Bingo Hall Brawl: Team 3D (Ray & D-Von) vs The James Gang (Kip & BG) - Before the start of the event, Team 3D insulted the new ECW and said that the bingo hall had no vampires or zombies. They then went to the back to drag The James Gang into the ring. The two tems brawled throughout the iMPACT zone and used a variety of weapons on each other. The match ended when Team 3D gave Kip James the 3D through a table. Winners: Team 3D

Handicap Match: Rhino vs Bobby Roode & Scott D’Amore - The two members of Team Canada had to tag each other in to be the legal man in the ring. Coach D’Amore came into the ring only when Rhino was in trouble. Whenever it appeared that Rhino would get to D’Amore, Bobby Roode would interfere. The match ended when Rhino threw Roode out of the ring and then hit the gore on D’Amore to get the win. Winner: Rhino

X Division Ranking Match: Sonjay Dutt vs Jay Lethal vs Alex Shelley vs Petey Williams vs Shark Boy vs Senshi - This is an elimination style match. The order of elimination will be the reverse order of the rankings for the X Division title. Sonjay Dutt eliminated Shark Boy. Jay Lethal then eliminated Alex Shelley. Petey Williams eliminated Jay Lethal. Senshi eliminated Petey Williams. Senshi won the match after hitting the double foot stomp. Winner: Senshi

Kevin Nash vs Chris Sabin - This is Nash’s first real match in a year. Sabin was in control of the beginning of the match and Nash called out for his friend Alex Shelley to come to ringside. The match became more like a handicap match due to the interference of Alex Shelley. After Shelley crotched Sabin on the top rope, Kevin Nash hit the jack knife power bomb to get the win. Winner: Kevin Nash

NWA Tag Team Title Match: Champs America’s Most Wanted (Harris & Storm) w/Gail Kim vs AJ Styles & Chris Daniels - Gail Kim interfered several times before a large unnamed muscular woman came to ringside to help Daniels and Styles even the odds. The match ended when James Storm accidentally hit Chris Harris with the beer bottle. AJ hit Harris with a frog splash and Daniels followed that up with the best moonsault ever to become the new tag team champions. AJ Styles is now a three time Triple Crown winner in TNA. Winners and new champs: AJ Styles & Chris Daniels

- Jim Cornette is announced as the new face of TNA management and he cuts an in-ring promo.

Non-title Match: X Division Champ Samoa Joe vs Scott Steiner - Scott Steiner was able to break the rear naked choke hold and Samoa Joe was able to break The Steiner recliner. After Joe broke the recliner, he hit Scott with a power slam to get the win. Winner: Samoa Joe

King of the Mountain Match for the NWA World Championship: Champion Christian Cage vs Sting vs Jeff Jarrett vs Ron Killings vs Abyss - This match is like a reverse ladder match. You can only hang the title once you have beaten someone by pin fall or submission. When you are pinned or submit, you have to enter the penalty box for two minutes. Killings pinned Jarrett. When his time expires, Abyss gets pinned by Christian. After Abyss is out of the box, Jarret pins Killings. Several minutes later, Abyss pinned Jarrett. Jeff tries to hit Sting with the guitar but Christian makes the save. Sting then gives the title to Christian to hang but Larry Zbysko enters the ring and gives Christian a low blow. Sting then pins Jarrett. Everyone is now eligible to win the match. A few minutes later, Sting and Christian are on the ladder fighting over hanging the title. Referee Earl Hebner pushes the ladder over knocking both men out of the ring. Jeff Jarrett then hangs the belt to reclaim his NWA title and remind us all of why he is known as the king of the mountain. Hebner and Zbysko run out of the arena as the fans are throwing trash in the ring. Winner and new champ: Jeff Jarrett

- After the match, Jarret has the belt taken out of his hands by referee Rudy Charles. He gives the title to Jim Cornette. The show ends with Jim Cornette holding the belt and Jarrett on his knees screaming "NO".
