ECW One Night Stand Recap

History was made tonight as one of the WWE Championships was rechristened the ECW World Championship. The in ring action was incredible and the crowd was the hottest in both WWE and ECW history. If you missed this show you owe it to yourself to catch the replay of what is undoubtedly the best PPV event of the year so far.

- The show starts off with Paul Heyman cutting a promo in the ring thanking the fans. It has to be noted that the fans are rabid and one sign is prominently draped over the rafters that says “If Cena wins we riot”.

Tazz vs Jerry Lawler - On his way to the ring, Lawler slaps announcer Joey Styles. Once Lawler gets in the ring, Styles jumps on Lawler’s back. When Lawler is about to hit the pile driver on Styles, Tazz applies the Tazzmission and makes Lawler tap out. Winner: Tazz

- Styles and Tazz are both doing the announcing now.

Kurt Angle vs Randy Orton - The first few minutes of the match feature Angle humiliate Orton with his amateur experience while the fans make several chants I can’t write here. The match picks up and both men put in a great performance. The match ended when Angle reversed an RKO attempt and make Orton tap out to the ankle lock. Winner: Kurt Angle

Super Crazy & Tajiri vs The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke w/Big Guido) - This match features many moves that are rarely seen in American wrestling. The match ends when Little Guido kicks Super Crazy into the crowd. The FBI then hit a double fisherman buster to get the win. After the match, The Big Show comes to the ring and man handles all five men including the huge Bug Guido. Winners: The FBI

- JBL cuts an interview from the second level of the arena. He praises his actions against The Blue Meanie last year and calls himself the King of Hardcore. JBL then announces that he is the new voice of SmackDown!

Rey Mysterio vs Sabu - This dream match lived up to expectations until the end. Sabu jumped on a char to the top rope and delivered a flying DDT through a table set up on the ring apron. The match was then stopped due to the injuries suffered by both men from this move Winner: No Contest

Terry Funk & Tommy Dreamer vs Mick Foley & Edge w/Lita - Beulah comes out with Dreamer and Funk and they make the match a six person match. This match was by far the most violent match ever in WWE history. One of the stars of the match was a board of barbed wire. At one point, Funk has to be taken away by the medics because of an eye injury caused by the barbed wire. Funk comes back with a barbed wire 2x4 that he lights on fire. He then hits Foley with it and he crashes through the board outside the ring. Funk then gets pushed into the board. The match ends when Edge delivers the spear to Beulah to get the win. Winners: Mick Foley, Edge, & Lita

Masasto Tanaka vs Balls Mahoney - This one ends when Balls hits Tanaka with an unprotected steel chair shot to the head. Winner: Balls Mahoney

- Eugene comes to the ring to give the fans a poem. After a few minutes, he is interrupted by The Sandman. Apparently Vince didn’t feel like paying Metallica for the use of Enter Sandman and Sandman’s dramatic entrance is not that good without it. Sandman hits Eugene with the cane several times and chases him from the ring.

WWE Title: Champ John Cena vs Rob Van Dam - The crowd was really hostile towards Cena. He threw his shirt to the crowd and had it thrown back at him four times. The match itself was really good and saw RVD hit many of his patented moves while Cena was able to adapt to the extreme style as well. Two refs got knocked out in the match. Cena attempted the FU on RVD but instead wound up dumping RVD over the ropes. From out of nowhere, a man with a helmet on came out and speared Cena through a table. He then revealed himself to be Edge. RVD hit the 5 star splash and Paul Heyman came out to make the count and declare RVD the new ECW World Champion. Winner: Rob Van Dam
