Sacrifice Recap

Monday May 15, 2006
Tonight’s show started off with a major technical glitch that caused the audience to miss the ending of the first match. The World X Cup tournament ended in a tie that will require a match on Thursday night to determine which country will win the tournament. Kevin Nash made his return, Sting had another partner turn his back on him, and two titles were up for grabs.

World X Cup Match: Petey Williams vs Jushin Liger - Midway through the match, TNA develops a feed problem for the event. By the time the show is back on, Jushin Liger has won the match and gets three points for Team Japan. According to the TNA website, due to the interference of Team Japan, Liger was able to hit Williams with a face buster to get the win. Going into the final of the tournament, the standings are USA 5, Japan 3, Mexico 2, and Canada 0. Winner: Jushin Liger

- In a backstage interview with America’s Most Wanted, Gail Kim, & Jackie Gayda, Jackie announces that she is pregnant. Gail then fires Jackie saying that everyone hates her.

NWA Tag Team Title Match: Champs America’s Most Wanted vs AJ Styles & Chris Daniels - Even though Gail Kim was banned from ringside, she was still able to interfere in the match. After the ref got dazed, Gail Kim dropped a night stick from the rafters. After AJ Styles hit the Styles Clash on James Storm, Chris Harris hit AJ with the stick and his partner made the pin. Winners: America’s Most Wanted

Raven vs A1 - Prior to the match, Larry Zbysko is in the ring. Thanks to the help of A1, Larry gets in some cheap shots on Raven before the match starts. Despite the attempted interference of Larry Zbysko during the match, Raven won with the Even Flow DDT. After the match, Larry and Raven get into a little scrap before security breaks it up. Winner: Raven

Bobby Roode w/Scott D’Amore vs Rhino - Roode controls the majority of the match but by the end of the match both men trade several two counts. When Rhino goes for the gore, but D’Amore interferes. Due to D’Amore’s distraction, Roode hit the northern lariat on Rhino to get the win. Winner: Bobby Roode

Team 3D vs The James Gang - While both teams are faces and there is respect between the two teams, The James Gang is still mad that Team 3D beat them for their first WWE tag team title in the only match between these two teams. This match ends when BG James hits D-Von with a pipe to get the win. Winners: The James Gang

- A replay of the ending of the Liger vs Petey Williams match is shown due to the loss of the feed earlier in the evening.

World X Cup Gauntlet Match: Team USA vs Team Canada vs Team Japan vs Team Mexico - The winner of this match gets 5 point and the runner up gets 2 points for his team. Every team can still win the X Cup. A new competitor enters the match every minute. The two last men in the ring were Team Mexico’s Puma who started the match off and Team Canada’s Petey Williams who entered the match a minute later. Petey hit the Canadian Destroyer to get the win. The final standings are now: Team USA & Canada each have 5 points, Mexico has 4 and Japan has 3. After the match, Kevin Nash came out and destroyed Puma to prove his point that size matters. Winner: Petey Williams

- Prior to the start of the next match, it is announced that Petey Williams and Chris Sabin will fight on this Thursday’s edition of iMPACT! to determine the winner of the World X Cup tournament.

Sting & Samoa Joe vs Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner w/Gail Kim - After some back and for the action, the match ends with Sting and Steiner brawling outside the ring which left Joe and Jeff alone in the ring. Jeff hit the stroke on Joe but Joe was able to kick out. A few minutes later, Joe hit the muscle buster on Jeff to get the win. After the match, Sting and Joe shake hands. When Joe walks back up the ramp, Steiner and Jarrett viciously double team Sting. Joe just keeps on walking and doesn’t bother to help his partner. Sting is saved by a bunch of his friends. Winners: Samoa Joe & Sting

Full Metal Mayhem for the NWA World Title: Champ Christian Cage vs Abyss - The first man to grab the title hanging over the ring will leave the ring as the champ. Earl Hebner is the referee for this match. After several minutes of action, James Mitchell gives Abyss the bag of thumbtacks and spreads them on the mat. Christian then hits the unprettier on Abyss into the ladder. He then slams James Mitchell on the thumbtacks. He places Abyss on a table, climbs the ladder and doesn’t grab the belt, instead he hit a frog splash on Abyss through the table. Christian then climbs the ladder again to reclaim the title that was stolen from him last month. Winner: Christian Cage
