Backlash Predictions

Thursday April 27, 2006
On Sunday night, the WWE presents Backlash on PPV. My predictions for the event are listed below. In addition to telling you who I think will win, I’m going to explain why. Let me know what you think of these picks by clicking on the comments link.

WWE Title: Champ John Cena vs Triple H vs Edge – The main event scene is really interesting right now and I could see any of these guys walking out with the belt. Some events make it appear that Triple H might reform D-X with Shawn and if he was the champ I couldn’t see it working. I can’t see Edge getting a clean win over either man at this moment because that would ruin the type of heat he currently has due to stealing his best friend' girl and then beating Cena in such a cowardly way at New Year’s Revolution. That leaves Cena as the winner of this match. Prediction: John Cena

Shawn Michaels & God vs Vince & Shane McMahon - The less said about this the better. I don’t even want to think about where they are going with this, I just want it to end. Prediction: The hopeful end of McMahonism

Kane vs The Big Show – The May 19 gimmick is really good for the company because now every fan knows exactly when See No Evil is coming out. I can’t see Kane losing this match right before his feature film comes out. Because of this he will work over the injured eye of The Big Show to get the win. Prediction: Kane

Carlito vs Chris Masters – When this feud first, started Masters was supposed to be the good guy. However Carlito has a natural charisma that Masters is lacking and the fans just gravitated towards Carlito. Carlito is a main eventer in the making and should get the win in his first big match as a good guy. Prediction: Carlito

Women’s Title: Champ Mickie James vs Trish Stratus - This has been one of the better feuds in recent WWE history. Regardless of who wins this match, this feud will keep going on for the foreseeable future. I think a loss by Trish would make for better future storylines as her fake obsession with Mickie can now turn real since she has her belt. Prediction: Mickie James

Money in the Bank vs I-C Title: Rob Van Dam vs Shelton Benjamin - Rob Van Dam is primed to make the leap to main event status by using his money in the bank title shot at the ECW One Night Stand PPV. With all the recent ECW news and rumors floating around, Rob Van Dam is the natural leader of any ECW return. Prediction: Rob Van Dam

Ric Flair vs Umaga - I can not imagine Ric Flair doing the job for Umaga. Umaga has already been let go by the WWE before and on the recent European tour he was involved in a hazing incident that found its way onto Youtube.com. That video can not bode well for his future and I can’t imagine him getting a career changing win the week such a video became public. Prediction: Ric Flair

(1) Tony says:

i think they are all right on, except for the McMAhon match. The match will not be fair, and there is no way shawn can battle it out against them. He beat McMahon once, and McMahon is not going to let it happen again.

I agree with most of these. Mickie Hames vs. Trish: I am getting bored with this one. In my opinion it has been beaten to death. I say Mickie does keep the belt and Trish goes away for a bit… mini vacation.

Michaels/God vs the McMahon: Shawn did it once before at wrestlemania when Shane came to the ring. It is starting to get old with this feud. I do agree that HHH will team up with Michaels again. They have been setting this up for the last few weeks.

Well… these are just my thoughts
